Bath Hack 2022 is a 24 hour in-person hackathon taking place on the 2nd - 3rd April on campus. The event is open to any University of Bath student. Enter to get event merchandise and be in with the chance of winning exclusive prizes. Teams of up to 4 are given 24 hours to create any system they want. Teams can then submit their systems to be judged for a chance of winning exclusive prizes.

Requirements

You will need to submit a description of what your project is, how the development process went, and some evidence that you've created something (eg. link to public GitHub repository). Make sure to select which prize tracks you want to be judged for, and include your team number (the number on your table) in the submission at the top, clearly.

The deadline for this is Sunday 12:00pm (midday).

After this submission, there will be a 'science fair', where the judges come round to all of the tables and you can show off your projects in person!

Prizes

6 non-cash prizes
Most Technically Impressive
1 winner

Bleep bloop. We all love an intricate and convoluted piece of work, the more mind blowing the better! This track is to reward all of you that go the extra mile to make some technically spectacular work, be it using machine learning to generate a stand up routine, or using maths to do computer science magic! The most mind-bogglingly techy will be able to earn its team a Sony SRS-XB23 speaker each!

Most Entertaining
1 winner

How are we meant to live, laugh, love in these conditions? Unsure. But maybe you can figure something out! The most entertaining prize track is dedicated to projects that somehow make their way into the hearts of everyone. This could be a two player version of Tetris set to the wii sports soundtrack, A cat based RPG or really anything in between and beyond! The prize is equally creative, a £100 Bath gift voucher each! Who wouldn't want that?

Hackers Choice
1 winner

We indeed live in a democracy! Also our lovely judges can only judge so much, so all of you get to have your say. Hackers choice is just a good 'ol free for all vote, where you just need to pick your favourite project. The winners will each get an Internet of Things bundle that contains an Echo Dot, two smart plugs and a portable battery pack!

Best UI / UX
1 winner

Would you consider design your passion? Well that deserves a prize! The team that has the nicest interface, digital or physical, as well as the best user experience could win a DRONE.

Embedded Systems (XMOS)
1 winner

Projects in the Embedded Track will focus on hardware and software for use in an embedded system. The Wikipedia articles on Embedded software and Embedded system provide a good overview of embedded computing. Teams considering this track are encouraged to read these articles to understand the type of projects considered within the scope of the track.

The judges will assess each team’s project based on:

* A clear and concise description of the scope and design goals for the project
* The extent of functionality implemented
* The ability of the hardware and software to perform operational design goals
* The potential for the project to have a positive impact on society.

Each project need not produce a complete device. However for projects producing an embedded sub-system, the judges will need sufficient contextual information regarding the device that incorporates it in order to assess its merits. The winning team will receive £100 Amazon gift vouchers each.

Tech for Good
1 winner

We’re looking for innovative ideas that utilise cutting-edge technology to help solve significant social problems. How can technology help to advance as communities, as inhabitants of planet earth and custodians for future generations? But don’t get too carried away with social and environmental impact, we want your idea to have one eye on sustainability - how will it thrive in a commercial world? Each member of the winning team will win a Keychron K8 Tenkeyless Wireless Mechanical Keyboard.
