Dear BC Physics Educators:

We invite you to join BC Association of Physics Teachers – the organization that works tirelessly for improving physics (and science in general) teaching and learning in British Columbia. We support new and experienced physics teachers who want to inspire their students. We lead exciting workshops for science teachers. We have awards for science students and teachers. We support and organizing science competitions and events for all students. So if you ever thought how far your $16 can go, BCAPT is your opportunity to make a difference. However, what is even more important, we need volunteers. We need teachers who are ready to share their experiences, support younger teachers and inspire BC students! 1) How to Join BCAPT:

If you are a physics pre-service or in-service teacher, a college instructor, or a university professor, by joining our organization you will enhance your physics teaching tremendously. People say that a few month in a lab can save you a few hours in a library. We believe that by joining BCAPT and AAPT you will make a huge step towards becoming the best physics teachers you can be and towards making great friends. We are waiting for you! We need you and you need us 🙂

BC APT Membership dues are $16 per academic year (September to August). Membership fees are used primarily for science fair prizes and minor expenses encountered in operating section meetings.

There are FOUR easy ways to join BCAPT:

1)  Environmentally friendly option: To join BCAPT online please refer to the Membership Form below and e-mail the answers to these questions to Paul Cheng (BCAPT Treasurer – see BCAPT Executive  or scroll down the page). Make sure you let us know if you are renewing or if you are a new member. Then pay the fee  via PayPal and you are done!

Have a physics question? Would like to know if there is a new job opening coming up? Or may be you would like to hear about interesting physics teaching developments in Vancouver… Join our listserv. It is fast and easy and you will be in the loop!

The BCAPT listserv is intended for the use of members of the BC Association of Physics Teachers. Currently, items that are posted on the listserv include:

    • BCAPT meeting notices
    • open house announcements
    • job postings
    • items of general interest to BC physics teachers at the high-school, college or university level
    • queries directed to the list membership at large (eg. “Does anybody know where I can obtain such-and-such piece of demo equipment?”)
