This blog post is a quick overview of Teslaverse #6. You might call it a trailer, or the episode highlights. If you want a more in-depth look, you should head over to Teslaverse #6: a jolly good read on Cybertruck, Tesla Diner, Recalls and more.
Jaan explored the Cybertruck extensively in a 7,000-word Deep Dive. If you’re interested in the Cybertruck, definitely check the Deep Dive out! There have been a couple of updates since then, so we’ve picked out a few for you.

The end-of-year shuffle at Tesla has seen several notable departures:
Jeroen van Tilburg – Jeroen headed the EV Charging Network/Supercharger EMEA since January 2018. He departed recently, focusing on family after contributing significantly to Tesla’s Supercharging network in Europe.
Ganesh Venkataramanan – Ganesh led Tesla’s Dojo “supercomputer project” for five years and has now left the company. Peter Bannon steps in as the replacement. Tim Zaman, Tesla’s head of AI infrastructure, also left, joining Google DeepMind.
Chris Lister – The former VP of Operations has also left. He is now serving as Chief Supply Chain Officer at Redwood Materials, an organization with a significant Tesla alumni presence.
Here’s a quick recap of recent recalls. For more information check out the Recall section of the full Teslaverse Episode 6.

Owners are celebrating a recent update allowing the manual control of wipers during FSD or Autopilot use. The 2023 Holiday software update offers diverse features, including customizable horn sounds, Apple Podcasts, speed camera display, auto 911 calls, and blind spot indicators. Notably, the high-fidelity park assist feature benefits vehicles without ultrasonic sensors, currently available for some customers.

However, as of Dec 31st, certain US Model 3 variants lose eligibility for the IRA tax credit due to cell production limitations at Giga Nevada. Changes in pricing are expected to counterbalance EV rebates, possibly influencing Model Y prices in the new year. Additionally, Europe’s updated Model 3 will soon receive adaptive headlights via an upcoming OTA update, marking Tesla’s first car with this feature in the region.
Tesla has expanded its non-Tesla Supercharging in Europe to include Ireland, Romania, and Hungary, reaching 19 European countries. They’ve also made the support page country-specific. The Supercharger network extends to various countries globally, including the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Mainland China, and South Korea.
The progress of Tesla’s Diner on Santa Monica Boulevard is evident, with subfloors set and technical plans shared. Additionally, Tesla is developing wireless inductive charging, aiming for a seamless charging experience at home.

A collaboration between Tesla and Best Western International is underway, planning to install 2,000 Tesla Universal Wall Connector chargers in North American hotels, with future plans for global expansion. Earlier, Tesla partnered with Hilton for a similar initiative in North America.
Details about the Tesla V4 Supercharger installation manuals were briefly leaked online, providing insights into this upcoming technology.

This blog post is a quick overview of Teslaverse #5. You might call it a trailer, or the episode highlights. If you want to have a more in-depth look, you should head over to Teslaverse #5: Cybertruck delivery event — Q3 (l)earnings — Toyota joins NACS
In this Teslaverse Episode, the Q3 learnings go into precise detail. Here’s a snapshot of the learnings from Q3, but for the full report check it out in Teslaverse #5 here.
The main objectives, per Tesla, remained unchanged in Q3: reducing cost per vehicle, free cash flow generation while maximizing delivery volumes, and continued investment in AI and other growth projects.
In Q3, Tesla delivered 435,059 vehicles. In Q1-Q3 this year, Tesla has delivered 1,324,074, which is already 10,223 more than the 1,313,851 in the whole of 2022.
On the business side, in Q3 Tesla globally:
It’s finally official, and the Cybertruck delivery event takes place on the 30th of November in Giga Texas. (Cybertruck delivery event announcement)

The arrival of the Tesla Cybertruck in Europe has sparked questions about whether its impressive size and weight would align with European regulations, particularly the “B” driving license, which typically allows vehicles weighing up to 3,500 kg.
However, the European Commission proposed legislation in March that could change the landscape. The proposal aims to raise the weight allowance for “B” category vehicles to 4,250 kg but exclusively for zero-emission vehicles. The change is currently under review in the European Parliament, and we’ll be monitoring its progress closely.
The UK has already taken a step in the right direction. In 2018, they implemented a 4,250 kg weight limit for the “B” category, focusing on alternatively fueled vehicles, aligning to promote cleaner transportation options.
The upgraded Model 3 was spotted without any covers for the first time in the US. Meanwhile, the first deliveries of the refreshed M3 are expected at the end of October in China and the first ship with the refreshed models arrived in the Zeebrugge port in Belgium just last week.

Giga Texas: Tesla unveiled plans for a 120-acre “ecological paradise” around the Colorado River at Giga Texas, in a new presentation Tesla gave to the Travis County Commissioners Court. Tesla claims it has already invested $5.8B in the factory and plans to spend at least $10B.
Giga Mexico: Nuevo Leon Governor Samuel García visited his 4th Gigafactory, Shanghai, to “learn about previous experiences to apply them in the construction of the one in Nuevo León, which will be the largest in the world.”. García also said two of Tesla’s Chinese suppliers, Ningbo Tuopu Group and Hesai Technology, will invest around $700M and $260M respectively in Nuevo Leon.

We wanted to think outside the box and find a way to transport our vehicles quickly so that wherever Beasts are needed, they are available. Then the idea of the Community came up – why don’t we see if any of our loyal users would like to help move our vehicles?
The Community was created, and over the year grew to over 1,500 members. When we need a vehicle moved to a new location quickly, they pick up “Community Missions” and drive our vehicles from one place to another. This is a win-win situation for Beast and our Community. They can travel from city to city in style, free of charge, and earn “Beast Bucks”, while Beast has our fleet moved between locations with no hassle and on time. Over the year, the Beast Community has completed a massive 150 missions!
Here you can check out some of the comments we have collected from our Community members about their experiences with Beast:
Driving a Beast Tesla was excellent, but a great experience with Beast came from when I forgot my gloves in the car after a rental and when I realised and called the next day, the team guided me to the car and unlocked the car remotely and my gloves were still there! So a quick and hassle free return of my lost gloves and very helpful service meant definite 5 stars from me! Keep on rocking Beast team!
We had a little trip in spring. Went from Estonia to Finland with ship, then Finland to Riga with plane and after spending a night in Riga, took Tesla and drived back to Tallinn. (Changed one Tesla for another in Pärnu)

The thought that appears everytime: “How did I end up in a spaceship??”
Earlier in spring this year we came to Riga with an airplane and found out that the last bus to Tartu had just left. Then we just opened Beast app and found a Tesla. First time driving a Tesla and straight to 250km of joy.
At that time we did not think of any other transportation, just Beast.

]]>So… where do we start?
We’ve been talking about the revamp project for the Model 3, previously codenamed Highland, for a while now. The first major refresh for the vehicle since 2017 is now here. That said, there have been tweaks to M3 before, of course. Not to mention what Tesla does with OTA software updates.
Note: So far the refresh hasn’t launched in North America, but in Asia, the Middle East & Europe instead. That’s because the Model 3s in these markets are supplied by the one factory where these changes have been made so far: the Giga Shanghai.
The new Model 3 boasts a remarkable 0.219 Cd drag coefficient, making it Tesla’s most aerodynamic vehicle – and it comes in two new colors, Ultra Red and Stealth Grey. Along with some more aesthetic changes, the new wheel styling and Hankook tires enhance the range and reduce noise.

Tesla has introduced “wraparound styling”, and by using enhanced, softer, and more refined materials there is an increase in comfort for all on-board. For those in the back seat, there are wider, more comfortable rear seats, a larger armrest, and they can enjoy an 8’’ touchscreen for climate control and entertainment. You can check out more in-depth changes to the interior and exterior, as well as info on the pricing, driving & specs, and Model 3 sales so far in the full Teslaverse #4 article.

There have been a couple of changes in the company, with Zachary Kirkhorn, known as the “Master of Coin,” resigning from his position as Tesla’s CFO on August 4th, concluding his 13-year tenure with the company, including four years as CFO. Vaibhav Taneja, the Chief Accounting Officer, is now working as CFO (though Kirkhorn will remain with Tesla until the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition).
Tesla is also making a notable appearance at the Detroit Auto Show, marking its return after an eight-year absence. Speculation surrounds whether this presence will involve showcasing the Cybertruck or even unveiling the new Model 3.
Several images of the Cybertruck in transit at Giga Texas have emerged, indicating ongoing production. We don’t have Pricing details for the Cybertruck yet. We also don’t know how many there are, since no production numbers have appeared yet, but I guess we could say “tens of Cybertrucks” have been produced so far.

Tesla has simplified its Model S and Model X offerings in the US, reducing prices significantly. Notable price reductions include Model S LR to $74,990, Model S Plaid to $89,990, Model X LR to $79,990, and Model X Plaid to $89,990.
Giga Berlin: Tesla has completed its depot and launched a dedicated train shuttle at Giga Berlin, providing free transportation for 400 employees per ride. The launch was celebrated with a party, and some employees even hosted a DJ session on the train.
Giga Shanghai: Giga Shanghai has achieved a significant milestone by producing 2 million Teslas. The first million was achieved in 33 months, while the second million was produced in just 13 months. Tesla’s localization rate for components used in the Shanghai factory has surpassed 95%. Additionally, Model Y (RWD) vehicles from Giga Shanghai are now being exported to the Republic of Korea.
Giga Mexico: Tesla is awaiting approval for a change-of-land-use permit to initiate construction at Giga Mexico. It is likely that production won’t commence before 2026/2027, as suppliers are also advised to wait for further developments.

As of the end of August 2023, Tesla’s registrations in Europe (237,556) have exceeded the total for 2022 (233,800), per the data gathered in the Tesla Motors Club project (Tesla Europe registration stats). Here’s a helpful chart illustrating the growth (the top line represents 2023):

In the US, Tesla continues to dominate the DC charging landscape. They opened 557 charging ports in August, and a total of 3,522 in 2023 so far. Tesla’s charging installation this year nearly matches the total number of chargers installed by the second-place competitor, Electrify America (3,582).
