Been a while since a meaningful Quadrant update. Honestly, I still have a lot that I want to implement in Quadrant, but unfortunately I had to focus on some other life stuff as well, since after all this is a project that I maintain in my free time and mostly out of boredom.

Bug fixes

A lot of important ones at that.

  • "Mod installed successfully" snackbars no longer accidentally go into insane amounts (e.g 321515252)
  • CurseForge search for mods no longer ignores the minor version like it does for resource packs and shaders
  • Network requests are now cached much better, thus not causing rate limits on Modrinth

QoL improvements

You can now dismiss snackbars and clear their history

<![CDATA[Quadrant v25.10 is now live with ARM support!]]>https://blog.mrquantumoff.dev/quadrant-v25-10-is-now-live-with-arm-support/68fdf94d99aa120001ed78deSun, 26 Oct 2025 11:30:42 GMT

Since GitHub has officially added ARM runners, Quadrant can now support native ARM builds on Windows and Linux. The update should land to Flathub soon. However, since Microsoft Store packaging is more complicated, the ARM version of the app will not be there right away. I want to rework a lot of CI/CD related hassles that concern MS Store before I add ARM support to it.

The new update is based on Tauri 2.9 and the latest dependencies.

Please be aware that ARM support is still experimental-ish.

Meanwhile I did add build support to the app, I have no way of testing it on real hardware, since I don't own any ARM-based desktop devices. So, any bugs that you find that are directly tied to the ARM version (i.e those that are unreproducible on the x86_64 version) will not be fixed unless you submit a PR.

The new design adds a lot of animations as well as improving the OAuth page and it's stability. It also gets rid of a bunch of bad code that used to be on my website.

Exporting modpacks as a .zip archive

Now you can click on the Export button to export a modpack as a .zip archive that you can send to your friends.

Identifying existing .jar files

You can now identify existing .jar files (those that weren't installed via Quadrant). So far you can only identify the automatically found files

A lot of QoL fixes

This update also brings some useful quality of life improvements, such as:

  • Remembering the last scroll position when going into a mod details page and back.
  • Opening the wiki when the modpack applying fails on Windows (most likely users need to enable Developer mode to use symlinks)
  • Bug fixes

The app is back on it's old Microsoft Store page

I've found a way to package the app as a .MSIX package, so a lot of people who haven't manually migrated to Quadrant Next will be moved together with this update. People who have migrated manually shouldn't move to the Microsoft Store version manually since the app will auto-update itself through the built-in updater anyway.

<![CDATA[New default Quadrant ID limits.]]>https://blog.mrquantumoff.dev/new-default-quadrant-id-limits/67b70eb04796e800013dc312Thu, 20 Feb 2025 11:21:37 GMTStarting today, 20th of February, 2025 newly registered accounts will be limited to

  • 10 uses per Quadrant Share code.
  • 2 modpacks synced with Quadrant Sync.

And unregistered Quadrant instances are now limited to:

  • 1 use per Quadrant Share code.

This will not affect old Quadrant ID accounts, they will retain their 75 code uses and 100 synced modpacks for the foreseeable future.

These changes are due to the fact that Quadrant has been growing for the last year and I want to monetize the app in a reasonable way. I'm planning to introduce 2 monthly subscriptions for Quadrant power users. A base (plus) tier will include extended sync and share limits that are now available for OG users (so OG users will always have the "Plus" tier of the subscription) and a better tier (Pro) details of which are not ready to present yet.

Here's the link for Windows

Here's the link for Flatpak.

Warning: Flatpak might have login issues, but that's not confirmed/denied yet. I've yet to check this. If you're actively using Quadrant ID, consider waiting before updating. (Last time I was testing Linux there were no issues, but it's really hit or miss with handling protocols through flatpak, you might want to opt for the Fedora/Debian packages or attempt to use the AppImage).

<![CDATA[Quadrant v25.2 is stable.]]>https://blog.mrquantumoff.dev/quadrant-v25-2/6791527608d928000102e008Wed, 22 Jan 2025 20:25:21 GMTIF YOU'RE ON THE MICROSOFT STORE VERSION OF THE APP, EITHER WAIT FOR THE NEW WIN32 STORE PAGE TO GET PUBLISHED OR GRAB THE INSTALLER MANUALLY!

The app is now submitted to Microsoft Store/Flathub. If you're on windows you can either wait for the new Microsoft Store version or download the app manually from my repo.

Linux users should probably wait for the Flatpak release of the app or you can try using the AppImage (however there is a chance that the AppImage might contain some weird behaviour). Either way the only version of the app that will get support in the Github Issues is the Flatpak version of the app (and the Windows build, naturally).

macOS support has been dropped, but it might come back in the future (if I get access to a macOS device, or someone submits a PR with fixes related to macOS). However, there is no ETA for macOS support, nor is it planned as a thing in the near future.

The changelog is available under my previous post.

<![CDATA[Quadrant Next is (almost) ready!]]>https://blog.mrquantumoff.dev/quadrant-next/678e61aa08d928000102dfa7Mon, 20 Jan 2025 15:26:44 GMT

It's been almost 2 months since the last Quadrant update. However, I've got good news to share.

Quadrant Next is ready,

Microsoft Store

See, the previous framework on top of which Quadrant was built (Flutter) has good tooling to provide updates straight to the Microsoft Store, however the new framework that I'm using to build Quadrant Next (Tauri) doesn't support Microsoft's preferred packaging format (MSIX). Tauri only supports .msi and .exe installers, which CAN be distributed through Microsoft Store, but they have to go through some serious moderation first. That moderation is code signing. Code signing is a good idea; however, its execution is extremely flawed. Code signing requires a certificate provided by a Microsoft-trusted provider and all of those providers charge ridiculous money for said certificates. The prices can go up to 800 USD for a certificate. The only way around those companies is the Microsoft Trusted Signing service, which charges 10 bucks a month, but it requires a lot of ID verification stuff, which is a lot of hassle. I'll try to resolve this in any way I can, however I will not be releasing an update on Linux before Windows and vice-versa. Both platforms will get the update as soon as it is ready to be live on both of them.

Changelog of Quadrant Next:

Quadrant Next doesn't have a specific version yet, but it's most likely going to be Quadrant v25.1 or v25.2

  • New UI: Quadrant has been rewritten entirely, and therefore has a new, more unique user interface written in React + Vite.
  • New backend: Quadrant's backend is now written in Rust instead of Dart. This lets Quadrant be more stable and consistent in a lot of aspects.
  • No RSS or changelogs inside of the app. They might come back as notifications in the future, but that's not certain. I'm still thinking about them. For now, they're not available, so if you notice that something's different, you'll have to go to this blog manually.
  • New logo! This is a new era for Quadrant and in order to celebrate it properly, I believe that Quadrant should have a new logo.
Quadrant Next is (almost) ready!
The new Quadrant logo

The new logo is a more evolved version of the old one.

  • Some unused features were retired, such as: Quadrant Feedback.
  • Some feature's behaviour was altered: Now you can't update a modpack to a new Minecraft version. You first have to change the modpack's Minecraft version and only then update the mods in it.

What does this mean for the future?

This whole rewrite makes maintaining Quadrant a lot easier.

Are there any downsides of this rewrite?

Sadly, yes. Since I can't test the app on a mac at all, macOS support has been dropped entirely. It might come back in the future (if I ever get a mac for long enough to debug the app on it). However, anyone who wants to fix any existing bugs on macOS is welcome to do so, because the proprietary components of the app are separated from the proprietary ones, so anyone who's willing to fix bugs can do so.

Linux users might experience worse performance, due to the webkit JavaScript engine being utter garbage. However, the moment Tauri provides the ability to package CEF or any other JS runtime I'll be more than happy to implement it.

What about the old Quadrant (Classic)?

I'm not completely disabling the old codebase the moment Quadrant Next comes out. The old app will be available on Microsoft Store under the "Quadrant Classic" name. It won't ever get updated though. I'll delist the old app in a few months after the stable release of Quadrant Next and rotate the Quadrant ID API keys whenever I bring changes to the Quadrant ID security infrastructure, which I plan to do sometime this year.

Can I install Quadrant Next right now?

Yes, you can grab the latest release manually. Grab the .exe installer for Windows. Linux builds might be slightly unstable on the Github releases page, but you can check them out. Also change the update channel to "preview" until the stable version of Quadrant Next gets released.

I think this is about it. Hopefully, I can get the app published properly soon. See y'all soon. - Demir.

<![CDATA[What's going to happen to Quadrant in 2025]]>https://blog.mrquantumoff.dev/quadrant-2025-news/676f9bb68b22240001646d0eSat, 28 Dec 2024 06:45:56 GMTWoah, 1000 active users, over 10,000 mods downloaded and 56 modpacks synced with Quadrant Sync.

Thank you.

However, the app is still evolving, and not only that, but I'm working on something massive. The app won't get updated until I finish working on this update locally. Meanwhile, I understand that some people may be frustrated with this fact, but I prefer the quality of the updates over their quantity. The update might not even be released in January (although it's not for certain). I'll try to keep you updated as much as I can. So far, the update is about 25-30% done.

Spoiler alert: I'm rewriting the app, instead of despaghettifying the existing code of the project.

Now, by default, if you are logged in to Quadrant ID, your settings will automatically sync with Quadrant Settings Sync, this will let you keep the same configuration across devices. You can disable this feature by going into the settings page and toggling the switch right below "Experimental Features".

Check for Quadrant Sync/Settings Sync/ID Notifications manually

Now you can right click on the tray icon and manually check for any Quadrant ID-powered changes.

Some animations were slightly changed, and some new animations were introduced

Small bug fixes here and there.
