-
Effectiveness and efficiency
Does the solution address a high priority area? Does it achieve its goal effectively and efficiently? Can it scale? This should address a problem that has been quantified and then have an impact.
-
Design and usability
How good is the design, user experience, and ease of use of the solution? How quickly can it be utilized in a community or society? Students need to think about the end user and their situation – consider the individual’s stress, access to network connectivity, their device’s battery life, etc.
-
Creativity and innovation
How unique is the approach to solving a long-standing or previously intractable problem? This doesn’t need to be completely original. Think about how students can add insight to an existing solution or take a totally different perspective/view on the problem and create a solution around it.
