El Paso County, Colorado, August 22, 2023 The El Paso County Land Use Meetings are moving to the second and fourth Thursday of the month at 9 a.m. beginning in September until further notice. The first Land Use meeting in September will be held Thursday, September 14 at 9 a.m. Unless otherwise noted, all Land Use meetings will be held inside the Centennial Hall auditorium at 200 South Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.

All meetings will be livestreamed on the El Paso County channel and social media platforms. Residents may also participate remotely via Microsoft Teams by sending an e-mail to [email protected] before or during a meeting.

There will also be no Board of County Commission meeting on Tuesday, September 5.

January 12, 2022 – The El Paso County Board of Commissioners is seeking community-minded citizen volunteers to serve on the Arkansas Basin Roundtable. Applications for the open positions are due by January 27, 2022.

The Arkansas Basin Roundtable consists of representatives from every county in the Arkansas River basin. Members include municipal, agricultural, environmental, recreational, industrial interests as well as holders of adjudicated water rights. While meeting the water resource needs of all water users within the Arkansas basin, projects supported by the Roundtable also support accomplishing the goals of the Arkansas Basin Implementation Plan (Ark BIP) and the Colorado Water Plan (CWP). The Roundtable serves as a forum for discussion of regional and local water issues and provides proponents of water projects the opportunity to gain support, secure funding, and partner with other stakeholders to implement projects that are aligned with the Roundtable’s goals.

The Arkansas Basin Roundtable is currently seeking one volunteer.

Meetings are typically held on the second Wednesday of every month from 12:30-2:30.

January 11, 2022 – The Board of El Paso County Commissioners is seeking community-minded citizen volunteers to serve on the El Paso County Citizen Review Panel (“CRP”). Applications for the open position are due by February 11, 2022.

The CRP is currently seeking five (5) private citizens to serve as volunteer panel members.

The Board of County Commissioners (“BOCC”) established the El Paso County Department of Human Services Citizen Review Panel as an advisory board pursuant to Section 19-3-211, C.R.S. The CRP serves as an extension and continuation of the complaint process established through the County Department of Human Services Quality Assurance Program. It also provides a forum for the discussion of unresolved consumer concerns regarding the conduct of County Department of Human Services employees involved in Dependency and Neglect (Child Welfare) cases.

The members of the CRP shall be appointed by the BOCC, be representative of the community, have demonstrable personal or professional knowledge and experience with children, and not be employees or agents of the State of Colorado or the County. At least one member of the CRP shall be the parent of a minor child at the time of his or her appointment to serve on the panel.

The CRP meets three times annually at 3:30 pm on the first Tuesday of April, August, and December, and on an as-needed basis, at the Department of Human Services, Community Conference Room #3032, 1675 Garden of the Gods Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado and due to Covid-19, our meetings are being held virtually, via Web-Ex.

Citizen Outreach Group

The Citizen Outreach Group (COG) serves as a committee to review and assess, in its capacity, the progress of the County Strategic Plan, the County’s Five Year Financial Roadmap, and the activity of the Public Safety tax, in an effort to provide the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) and County Administration with updates and recommendations. The COG, in its capacity, shall support the County’s efforts in hosting the County Citizens College, the County Fair, and other related events, in order to encourage and enhance transparency and collaboration between citizens and County government.

The group consists of 11 members: one from each of the county’s five commissioner districts, and six at-large representatives. District and at-large members serve for three-year terms, with terms limited to two consecutive terms.

Citizen Outreach Group (COG) meetings are held several times a year at Centennial Hall, 200 S. Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs, CO. Applications are being accepted for two at-large members. December 10, 2021 – The El Paso County Board of Commissioners is seeking community-minded citizen volunteers to serve on the South Platte Basin Round Table (SPRT). Applications for the open positions are due by December 24, 2021.

The Roundtables were established under HB 1177 as part of the Inter Basin Compact Committee (IBCC) process to be forums for water discussion and planning on a water basin level and also on a statewide basis. As a portion of El Paso County lies within the South Platte River Basin, the county is allocated a voting seat on the SPRT.

Meetings are typically held on the second Tuesday of every month from 4:00-7:00pm.

December 3, 2021 – The El Paso County Board of Commissioners is seeking community-minded citizen volunteers to serve on the El Paso County Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Advisory Board. Applications for the open positions are due by December 17, 2021.

The role of the El Paso County CSBG Advisory Board is to participate actively in the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) program in El Paso County, serving low-income communities and making recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners.

The Board consists of nine members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners for three-year terms; members are limited to two full consecutive terms.

Commission meetings are held quarterly; March, June, September, and December on the 2nd Friday of the month from 2:00-3:30 PM. Meetings are currently being held over an online platform in lieu of in-person, and this will continue to occur for the foreseeable future.

The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Advisory Board is currently seeking one new member. This member must be from the private sector.

The Fairgrounds Corporation is currently seeking one private citizen.

The Fairgrounds Corporation is a non-profit corporation established by the Board of El Paso County Commissioners to acquire, manage, and/or hold a liquor license assigned to the El Paso County Fairgrounds; to coordinate the use of the El Paso County Fairgrounds for special events which the consumption of alcohol is desired; and through its operation, to provide funding to support the El Paso County Fair, the El Paso County Fair and Events Complex, and the El Paso County 4-H program.

Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Swink Hall on the El Paso County Fairgrounds, 366 10th St Calhan, CO.
