On Thursday, Peacock announced that it was renewing Nelly and Ashanti: We Belong Together for a second season following a standout streaming debut.

A press release reports that the unscripted series centered around Nelly and Ashanti’s rekindled romance will begin production this month, with new episodes set to premiere later this year.

After its summer launch, the eight-episode freshman season became Peacock’s No. 2 highest-reaching unscripted original debut, proving fans are fully tapped into the couple’s real-life romance, growing family, and day-to-day dynamics.

Peacock reports that Season 2 will continue to follow the duo as they balance busy careers, expanding business ventures, and life as a blended family, all while raising their toddler son, Kareem “KK” Kenkaide Haynes. The new chapter promises an “even deeper look at their evolving relationship” as they juggle love, legacy, and life in the spotlight.

The series marks a full-circle moment for the couple, whose love story has played out over decades.

The two first began dating in 2003, navigating an on-and-off relationship for nearly a decade before calling it quits in 2013. After spending another 10 years apart, they shocked fans with a reunion in 2023, when Ashanti subtly confirmed their rekindled romance with a soft launch at the MTV VMAs, featuring a photo of Nelly on her clutch.

By April 2024, the couple announced they were engaged and expecting a child. Just months later, reports revealed they had quietly tied the knot, followed shortly by the arrival of their son.

As previously reported, the couple spoke with BOSSIP about what makes their relationship work ahead of their season one premiere.

“For me it’s the thighs,” Nelly joked to Char Masona. “She’s a sweet person. I think the way that we grew up is so opposite to a certain degree. I think what I’m missing, she brings and almost vice-versa. Where I’m lacking, she gives me more.”

Ashanti echoed that sentiment, highlighting the rapper’s character beyond his chart-topping career.

“He has such a huge heart, like such a genuine, generous heart,” she said. “Sometimes I’m like, ‘You did what for who?’ He’s very selfless. The rest of the stuff, people know. He’s funny, he’s dope, he looks good. But I think just being a good person, being a protector, [and] being a righteous person is really important.”

This season of the NAACP Image Award-nominated series raises the stakes for Destiny as she opens up about her childhood, from navigating foster care and her mother’s addiction to finally meeting her half-siblings.

According to the MaDonni Beauty creator, that blend of humanity and drama is exactly what has kept viewers locked in for 11 seasons of the Carlos King-created show.

“I think they like the beautiful chaos,” Destiny told BOSSIP’s Managing Editor Dani Canada. “It’s like, when is the train wreck happening? Because we know it’s coming.”

This time around, that chaos comes with a softer side, as Destiny opens up about her past and steps into a raw, revealing, and reflective chapter of her journey.

“You’re going to see my bio mom [and] you’re going to see the woman I call mama who raised me,” she said. “You get to go back to Detroit with me and see my roots. You’re finally getting the chance to peel back the layers of where I come from, and who I am, the journey I’ve been on finding my siblings, and you get to see me back in my career that brought me into this world, which is real estate.”

Filming those moments proved to be one of the most difficult experiences of her time on the show.

“Girl, I didn’t want to do it,” Destiny admitted about filming with her mom. “I said I wanted to do it, then I didn’t want to do it. Got there to Detroit and still didn’t want to do it.”

Ultimately, she said, confronting her past publicly became a necessary step in reclaiming her story and continuing her growth.

“I felt like in order for me to evolve and move forward as a woman and as a mother, I had to face her,” she said. “It gave me the power to take away whatever story other people wanted to tell for me. It was one of the most difficult things that I’ve done in this space. You have shame, you have embarrassment, you have all the things that I’ve been through throughout my life without cameras.”

She also reflected on her mother’s life before addiction, noting that she was once a singer and that the two share several other similarities, which have, at times, complicated their relationship.

“I’m the epitome of everything she was supposed to be, which is why we have so much contention.”

That’s not all viewers are seeing, however; there’s still tension looming between Destiny and LaTisha Scott amid lingering trust issues and questions of loyalty bubbling back to the surface.

As previously reported, the two were locked in a tense faceoff as Kimmi Scott looked on, with LaTisha questioning whether Destiny’s long-standing relationships with Martell Holt and Nell Fletcher outweigh their friendship. Destiny, however, pushed back, calling it an “imaginary issue.”

According to Destiny, she stands on that, and she’s done being placed in the middle of other people’s conflicts.

“Now my side is just Destiny’s side. It’s just me,” she said. “I’m no longer explaining. My loyalty shows up and is loud.”

A Houston hottie is trading in mic checks for Moulin Rouge in newly released first-look photos.

Producers of Moulin Rouge! The Musical and Megan Thee Stallion have released first-look photos of the three-time Grammy-winning rapper and actress as Harold Zidler, offering a glimpse of her transformation ahead of her Broadway debut later this month.

The images, captured ahead of opening night, show Megan stepping into the larger-than-life role of the famed Parisian nightclub impresario, marking a historic moment for the long-running production.

As previously reported, Megan will begin performances March 24 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, appearing in a limited eight-week engagement through May 17 as the show enters the final months of its Broadway run, which is set to conclude July 26.

With the casting, Megan becomes the first female-identifying performer to portray Zidler in any production of Moulin Rouge! The Musical worldwide. The role, originally brought to life on screen by Jim Broadbent in Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 film, has previously been played onstage by Danny Burstein, Tituss Burgess, Boy George, and Wayne Brady.

“Stepping onto the Broadway stage and joining the Moulin Rouge! The Musical team is an absolute honor,” Megan said in a statement. “I’ve always believed in pushing myself creatively and theater is definitely a new opportunity that I’m excited to embrace. Broadway demands a different level of discipline, preparation and storytelling, but I’m up for the challenge and can’t wait for the Hotties to see a new side of me.”

Producer Carmen Pavlovic described the casting as a key part of the production’s farewell celebration.

“Welcoming Megan Thee Stallion into the Moulin Rouge! The Musical community is a thrilling moment for us,” Pavlovic said. “Megan is a true global superstar… We want our show to go out with a spectacular bang, and Megan is the force of nature to lead us there.”

Megan will take over the role from Bob the Drag Queen who concludes a limited run on March 22.

If that sounds intense, that is because it is. The rapidly growing chicken finger chain is preparing to open its 1,000th restaurant at Hollywood & Highland, just steps away from the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame and TCL Chinese Theatre. The landmark location represents not only a huge achievement for the brand, but also a full-circle moment for founder Todd Graves.

Graves first arrived in Los Angeles more than 30 years ago with a dream and an unconventional plan to make it happen. After being turned down by banks for his restaurant concept, he took on demanding boilermaker jobs in El Segundo and Torrance, Calif., to fund the idea himself.

That determination eventually led to the opening of the first Raising Cane’s in Baton Rouge, La., in 1996 and sparked what has become one of the fastest-growing restaurant brands in the world.

On Wednesday, March 18, Graves offered select media an exclusive preview inside the milestone location, and BOSSIP was in attendance to see the spot in all its glory. At the center of the disruption are Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers, roughly 50,000 of whom have been forced to work without pay for over a month. The shutdown, which began in February after Congress failed to reach an agreement on DHS funding, is directly tied to disputes over the Trump administration’s aggressive immigration policies and the role of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). 

“When you get a partial paycheck, when you expect $2,000 and you receive $500, and then you expect $2,000 and you receive zero, you’re now $3,500 in the hole,” Johnny Jones, Secretary-Treasurer of AFGE TSA Council 100 and a Dallas-based TSA worker, previously told USA Today. “I don’t have anybody I can call and ask for $3,500.”

The consequences have been immediate and severe. Absenteeism among TSA officers has surged to unprecedented levels, with national call-out rates exceeding 10% and spiking as high as 30 to 40% at major airports like Atlanta, Houston, and New York.  In some locations, more than half the workforce has failed to show up, a stark indicator of both burnout and financial desperation. 

“The morale is getting worse by the day because no one knows when this is gonna end,” said Cameron Cochems, a union steward and lead TSA officer in Boise, Idaho.

For travelers, the experience has become increasingly chaotic. Security lines now stretch for hours at some of the nation’s busiest hubs, including Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta, as understaffed checkpoints struggle to keep pace with demand.  With spring travel surging toward record levels—an estimated 171 million passengers—the system is buckling under pressure. Airlines and airport officials are warning that delays, missed flights, and cancellations could soon become the norm.

Even more alarming is the growing possibility of airport shutdowns. Federal officials have warned that smaller airports, which often rely on a single TSA checkpoint, may be forced to close entirely if staffing shortages worsen.  Larger airports may attempt to cope by consolidating security operations, but even those measures are proving insufficient as hundreds of TSA officers quit outright—at least 366 so far. 

Behind the scenes, the human toll on TSA workers is staggering. Many are facing eviction, empty refrigerators, and mounting debt after missing multiple paychecks. Some have reportedly resorted to extreme measures just to afford gas to get to work. Airports have begun organizing food drives and distributing gift cards, a stopgap solution that underscores the severity of the crisis rather than solving it. 

This situation is not merely a bureaucratic failure—it is a direct consequence of a political standoff rooted in deeply contentious immigration policies. Critics argue that the insistence on maintaining and expanding aggressive ICE operations has effectively held essential government functions hostage, leaving frontline workers and everyday travelers to absorb the damage. 

The result is a system in visible distress: overworked agents, stranded passengers, and a national transportation network teetering on the edge of broader collapse. As the shutdown drags on, the consequences are no longer theoretical—they are playing out in real time at airport security lines across the country, where frustration, uncertainty, and hardship have become the new normal.

It all started when Shyne made an appearance on Cam’ron and Mase’s podcast, It Is What It Is. During their conversation, Brandy’s name came up, which is when Mase and Shyne discussed their “overlapping relationships” with the singer.

“I was special. He came in and wanted to be special too, so I had to let him be special,” Mase joked when asked about them allegedly dating the same girl.

Shyne responded:

“No lies told. He was Shaq, he was the champion, he was the MVP. I was Kobe, no pun intended, because they said Kobe was a special friend of Brandy’s as well, but I was coming out of high school on the championship team, and he was the superstar, but I definitely did want to be special.”

He did get more serious on the subject, however, admitting that Brandy was his “dream girl,” and that he had no idea about her relationship with Ma$e. Eventually, one of their mutual friends told them what was going on.

After clips of this conversation made their way around online, Ray J—Brandy’s little brother—responded, saying that the commentary was inappropriate.

“Keep my sister’s name out of your mouth, and if not, I’m gonna slap the f***ing daylights out of you when I see you,” Ray J said in his response. “One thing n****s ain’t gonna do is talk sh*t about my sister without me going back on these big head a** n****s. Shyne, Ma$e, and Cam. I don’t know, I never had a problem with them, but I saw some sh*t today where they gotta know that a n**** gonna come back strong and say some sh*t because a n**** is not gonna let a n**** say anything and laugh and giggle and joke about a n****’s sister without me going big.”

Shyne was quick to address Ray J’s anger with a brief statement, though it likely only made the tension worse.

“Let the record reflect I DID NOT ‘HIT IT FIRST’ ……. Most respectfully @masonbetha @mr_camron @itiswhatitis_talk MAY 2 @kingsbklyn,” he wrote.

Now, Brandy has entered the conversation, making a rare statement in order to clear up her role in all of the madness.

“In the late ’90s, I had a platonic friendship with rapper Shyne. In an unfortunate turn of events, that friendship is now being mischaracterized as ‘we dated,’” the singer began in her lengthy caption. “Unequivocally, we did not! I’m not sure why an untrue narrative about a scope of what was a friendship more than 20-years ago is being reshaped during his current media interviews.”

“People telling their version of my story is why I am releasing my upcoming memoir, PHASES. It’s time to tell my truth and debunk many of the misnomers that people think they know about my life,” she continued before going on to condemn how her brother handled the situation.

“Additionally, I rarely release statements and typically ignore stories about me in the headlines even when they’re false. But when I do decide to standup for myself, I handle things on my own,” she wrote. “While I love my brother Ray J, I don’t condone or support the messages he’s shared on social media and have not asked him to defend me in any form.”

After so much attention, however, the Houston Health Department revealed that the booth was temporarily shut down on Monday, March 16, before reopening on Wednesday, per a local Houston news station.

Rodeo officials initially pointed to “clerical issues” as the reason for the two-day closure. However, just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, the Houston Health Department issued a statement clarifying that the shutdown stemmed from “a result of a complaint investigation.”

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo released the following statement:

“All Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo exhibitors must comply with all the rules, regulations, and requirements of the Fire Marshal, the City of Houston Health Department and any governmental entity having jurisdiction over these premises. To our knowledge, Mama Tina’s has been cooperative with the City of Houston Health Department and has worked closely with them to address the identified clerical issues. Mama Tina’s has since reopened under the guidance of the Houston Health Department.”

The Houston Health Department released the following statement:

“On Monday, March 16, 2026, the Houston Health Department issued a temporary closure of Mama Tina’s Gumbo booth at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo as a result of a complaint investigation. The vendor was cooperative with the department’s recommendations and passed a subsequent inspection. It was authorized to reopen on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.”

The woman who allegedly filed a complaint with the health department posted to social media, showing everything she had to do after going to the hospital to find the source of her illness. She claims to have gotten sick after eating at Mama Tina’s Gumbo.

Uppin’ the ante is the famed Black Heritage Day, bustlin’ with parties, performances, and parlaying in celebration of Black Cowboys and their storied contributions to Western culture.

“We are really excited about the community becoming more interested in Western culture, country music, all of that is really important to the Black Heritage Committee,” said Black Heritage Committee chairman, Shaun Boddy, ahead of this year’s event.

“We’ve seen attendance increase in the last two years with social media exploding with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. So we do expect larger crowds this year,” said Boddy.

At the Summit, the stars built their men’s and women’s tournament brackets and encouraged fans to join in as those picks inevitably fall apart throughout March Madness.

BOSSIP’s Rebecah Jacobs got to chat with Tyrese Haliburton after the Summit, where he broke down his NCAA bracket, Iowa State pride, and what he loves the most about March Madness. He also revealed whether or not he would ever do reality TV, his talent on the aux, and his surprise opinion on the never-ending GOAT debates.

“Obviously the one and done factor changes things and makes it that much more exciting for everybody,” Haliburton said about the difference between the college basketball tournament and NBA playoffs. “If you catch a team on a bad day, you could have an upset, and I think that’s why there are so many crazy things that happen.”

He continued, “In the NBA, we spend so much time watching the NBA games and we’re not watching college basketball as much, so things are a little different. But, in March, in NBA locker rooms, and NBA arenas, you never see people take as much pride in their alma maters or their universities, and that’s fun for me, because I’m somebody who watches Iowa State all the time.”

Hali went on to explain the winners of his bracket, emphasizing that he sees no reason for UConn’s women’s team not to take home the title.

“UConn, I think they’ve just been dominant all year,” he began. “Their team is so good, I love Sarah Strong, I love Azzi Fudd, they have Ali Isabelle on their team as well, who is from my area back home, so I think their team is just so deep and I don’t foresee them losing…I think their biggest challenge will be getting past South Carolina in the Final Four, and then ultimately UCLA in the national championship, but I think that it’s doable, and ultimately, something that they will do.”

On the men’s side, he’s standing by his alma mater.

“I have Iowa State winning the national championship, I’m a little biased, of course, that’s my alma mater,” Tyrese admitted. “But, I think they’ve been a great team all year, they’ve done so many special things and I think they’ve been playing really well all through March. Obviously, they’ll have to get through some tough teams: Kentucky, Virginia, Michigan. There’s really good teams in the region, and in college basketball as a whole, but I believe it’s something that they can get done.”

The Indiana Pacers star also spoke about his fan interactions on social media coming naturally to him, chalking it up to his generation and their love for the internet.

“I think it’s something that comes naturally. I was born in 2000, I grew up with social media, I’m just as addicted to social media as everyone else my age. I’m on social media all the time, it just so happens that I’m an NBA player, so when I tweet things like I would if I was not an NBA player, they get more attention because of who I am,” he said with a chuckle.

“I’ve just always liked to interact with people on social media, it’s fun for me to have those interactions with fans or people who aren’t fans and just have banter—it’s just always been apart of who I am,” Haliburton continued. “It’s something that’s fun for me.”

After appearing on the second season of Starting 5, Tyrese isn’t exactly ready for reality TV, but he is interested in sharing more of his life with fans.

“I’m glad my fiancée’s not here to hear you talk about me doing reality TV show,” he said with a laugh, implying she’d jump at the chance. “I’ve has some success with my YouTube and my social media, I stream sometimes gaming and other things. I can see myself putting out a more inside look into my life, for sure, obviously with me more in control of it.”

“But, reality television? I’m probably out on that one,” he added.

When asked about who in the Pacers locker room has the best taste in music, Hali didn’t hesitate to say “myself.”

“I think I’m versatile, I usually have the aux, because I can play something that connects with everybody in the locker room,” he explained. “If a guy wants country, I know that I can drop one at the right time and get quickly to another genre that other guys wanna hear fast. So, I feel like I’m a pretty good DJ.”

As for worst? The team’s rookie, Kam Jones.

“He’s been on aux duty since I’ve been injured, and when I’m around the team and hear that stuff…it’s pretty horrible.” the star admitted.

Haliburton is known for taking clutch shots on his own team, and when asked who else in the league he’d pick to take those same shots, he grappled with the question for a bit.

“That’s a great question,” he said before a long pause. “I’d probably say Dame [Lillard], because he’s got the best celebration, you know—Dame Time—for late in the game. Steph Curry, you pick Steph you’re never wrong.”

And regardless of how willing he is to give other players their flowers, Haliburton doesn’t like to engage in GOAT debates, because of what it means for the rest of the athletes being talked about.

“I try to stay out of those conversations because it diminishes other people and I feel like we’ve gone too far as a society in trying to diminish people to put others on top…It can just get corny sometimes for me,” he said when asked his criteria for determining the greatest of all time.

“Back when I was in those conversations, me being a 26-year-old dude, I love LeBron [James],” he continued. “I can’t speak on guys that I didn’t watch.”

JAŸ-Z is officially back on his bully. On Wednesday (March 18), the Hip-Hop mogul announced that he will be performing two dates at Yankee Stadium in July.

The pair of concerts will be in celebration of two of the “Empire State of Mind” rapper’s classic albums—his debut project, Reasonable Doubt, and his sixth opus, The Blueprint.

Roc Nation and Live Nation made the announcement in a social media post that revealed that shows are going down  July 10 and July 11. It seems that the July 10 date will be a celebration of the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt while the next night will be in homage to the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint.

It appears that Jigga is trying to lock down another summer. On Tuesday (March 17), JAŸ-Z revealed that he would be headlining The Roots Picnic in Philadelphia on May 30.

The Boogie Down Bronx stadium is familiar territory for the Brooklyn rapper. Back in 2013, Hova’s Legends of the Summer Tour with Justin Timberlake took place at the venue, also in July.

The WNBA has delivered a landmark moment for women’s sports, as the league and the Women’s National Basketball Players Association reached a groundbreaking agreement in principle on a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA). According to ESPN, after more than a year of tense negotiations—and over 100 hours of marathon bargaining sessions in the final stretch—the deal arrives just 51 days before the league’s milestone 30th season, ensuring the 2026 campaign will tip off on time.

This new agreement is being celebrated as nothing short of transformational. At its core is a massive financial leap forward for players. The salary cap is set to skyrocket to approximately $7 million—up from just $1.5 million in 2025—signaling a dramatic investment in the league’s talent. Top-tier players will now be eligible for “supermax” salaries around $1.4 million, while the average salary is expected to climb to about $600,000. Even more striking, the minimum salary will exceed $300,000, a staggering jump from roughly $66,000 under the previous deal.

Said WNBPA executive director Terri Carmichael Jackson:

“I think this can be summed up in two words: player empowerment…players coming to the table and standing on business and being reminded of the collective voice and of what it means to be in a union and the power of this union,” Jackson said. “They never forgot it, and they have taken it, like they always do, to the next level.”

Equally significant is the long-fought victory in revenue sharing. Players are set to receive nearly 20% of league revenue on average over the life of the agreement—an achievement that reflects both the league’s rapid growth and the players’ unified push for a fairer economic model. This shift ties player earnings directly to the league’s success, creating a system where rising popularity translates into real financial gains for athletes.

Said Nneka Ogwumike:

“We’re just really grateful to be able to come to a deal,” Ogwumike said. “We’re proud of ourselves. And quite frankly, we always told you all we were going to stand on business, and that’s what this looks like.”

Beyond salaries, the agreement is expected to enhance overall player benefits and working conditions. It will codify improvements such as better travel standards, expanded support systems, and upgraded resources across teams—further professionalizing the league and elevating the player experience.

Union leaders emphasized that this agreement represents players “standing on business” and harnessing the full strength of collective action. Things took a hilarious turn when host Alex Cooper suggested Washington call Goldwyn mid-interview to reminisce about their hottest on-screen moments.

Before making the call, Washington shared her personal favorite at the 19:22 minute mark:

“I think the hottest Olivia and Fitz moment was the first time we got to go to Vermont,” she said of the episode directed by Ava DuVernay. “I just think that house was so beautiful, the helicopter landing on the lawn, I think that whole moment was beyond dreamy.”

Then came the real fun, Washington dialed Goldwyn live. Caught slightly off guard, he answered with:

“Should I say, ‘Uh-oh?’”

The death of 12-year-old Jada West has left a Georgia community grieving, as new details continue to emerge about the tragic sequence of events that took her life and the compassion that has followed in its wake.

According to authorities, Jada, a sixth-grade student at Mason Creek Middle School, was involved in a physical altercation with another student on March 5 in her Villa Rica neighborhood, shortly after getting off a school bus. According to ANF, the confrontation, which was captured on cellphone video, escalated quickly from verbal taunts into a brief fight. During the struggle, Jada fell backward, striking her head and neck on the pavement. Though she initially stood up and appeared to walk away, she collapsed moments later in the street. 

Emergency responders found her in cardiac arrest and rushed her to the hospital. Despite efforts to save her, she died days later from what officials have described as a severe brain injury.  The incident remains under investigation as authorities review video evidence and await final autopsy results.

In the aftermath, Jada’s family has raised painful questions, including concerns about reported bullying leading up to the fight and whether the situation could have been prevented. Their search for answers reflects a broader anguish shared by a community struggling to understand how a conflict between children turned fatal.

Amid the grief, an act of generosity has brought a measure of comfort.

ANF reports that NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal has stepped forward to cover Jada’s funeral expenses, saying he was deeply moved by her story.

“As a father, my heart goes out to Jada’s family,” he said, emphasizing that no parent should have to endure the loss of a child. 

O’Neal, who serves in a community relations role with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office (North Georgia), is working alongside local law enforcement to support the family during this time.
