I started to write, answer the questions, and change the color pen for each section. Afterwards, I decided using a mind map, ivvi.dev, will be better for my dyslexia. I already use iReminders, which now I will be more mindful on the “due dates”. This excerise was helpful.

Comment on Why I may not answer your phone call: Productivity in the age of distraction by Felix Römer https://brightgreenlearning.com/2019/07/why-i-may-not-answer-your-phone-call-productivity-in-the-age-of-distraction.html#comment-42376 Thu, 02 Oct 2025 12:38:23 +0000 https://brightgreenlearning.com/?p=8540#comment-42376 Great post — thanks for raising this.

I totally agree that allowing interruptions (like unplanned calls) to break deep work is a serious risk, attention residue is real, and can undermine both the task you were doing and the one you pivot to.

One small idea I’ve found useful: block “buffer slots” around deep-work periods (say 10–15 minutes before/after) to absorb small tasks or calls, and make that boundary visible to collaborators (e.g. via calendar). That way you stay responsive and protect your focus.

thank you so much for your simple explanation and translate of the triangles game. Due to bad weather tomorrow in south eastern australia we have to go online. In the f2f version of the workshop we use the 3D version of triangles usually.

Congratulations on your successful year. I am going for more hybrid or FTF this year for my own personal well-being 😀

Sounds like a very hectic year indeed. My year (mostly on Zoom) was good and ending with a hybrid meeting was somewhat more stressful than a fully online meeting. I suspect the number of distinct groups you worked with also can be taxing. I find shifting from project to project mentally challenging. While I do like the diversity, I also like one strong / long project with a few smaller/ shorter ones to keep things interesting! Take care and best for 2022!

Great article – very useful insights into managing facilitated workshops online and the importance of balancing/recharging/planning for the facilitator.

I spent 2022 on zoom as well -learning to hold space/create conditions to activate the relational field through dialogue/facilitator’s presence. Interestingly, it was possible to do this through zoom. I had chosen to do few projects and even then felt zoom fatigue after 3-4 hours/day of back to back meetings/workshops/classes.

Hmmm what will I do differently- I will apply your advice and have fewer hours of continuous zoom sessions, keep ‘space’ in my planning, spend 20% of my time nurturing physical movement and social/ creative activities. Covid permitting – participate in or deliver in person dialogue meetings/gatherings in addition to the zoom component. It would be interesting to think about a virtual self-paced learning component/course – maybe in 2023.

Finally, measuring your life in love – yes. Measuring your time spent on doing with love and attention.

Have a wonder-filled 2022!!

Warm wishes, Roopin
