We are very excited to announce the hiring of Sérgio Quiroga da Cunha as CELFINET’s Chairman.

During a 28 years tenure at Ericsson, Sérgio held different Senior Executive Management positions on national, regional and global levels: Sérgio led teams in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Sweden; he was Latin America CEO for 7 consecutive years and, finally, was responsible for Ericsson’s Global Sales and Commercial Management, from Sweden.

His academic background comprehends a graduation in Telecom Engineering from INATEL, an MBA in General Management from Fundação Getúlio Vargas and extensive executive education from institutions such as the Columbia Business School, IMD, and Insead.

Sérgio Quiroga is currently the Board’s Chairman of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Brazil.
We, therefore, believe that Sérgio’s business acumen, industry insight, and technical command will be promising to CELFINET’s positioning and success.

We’re  happy to announce that, in addition to the SME Leader title,  CELFINET is honored with the title of SME Excellence by IAPMEI.

In partnership with Turismo de Portugal and major Portuguese banks, the IAPMEI initiative distinguishes, every year, companies that mark the competitive landscape of the country.

This statute, recognizes CELFINET as a company with high influence in the Portuguese economy due to its superior performance and management indicators.

With the purpose of honoring the winning SMEs, IAPMEI invited CELFINET to attend a public cerimony held on April 17 at the Altice Fórum Braga.

One week from now, the exciting city of Barcelona welcomes one of the largest mobile events in the world: Mobile World Congress. This year’s edition counts with the presence of 2,400 international technology companies and over 10,000 attendees!

Within the scope of FINCRESCE Program, the PME Líder position (in English, SME Leader) was launched by IAPMEI ten years ago to distinguish companies with superior performance profiles. The title not only delivers notoriety but also optimized financing conditions to boost growth and develop strategies to the selected projects.

Furthermore, within the leading SME group, companies that present the best performance results are annually distinguished with the SME Excellence title. Taking advantage of added conditions, partnership opportunities, and visibility.

On this year’s edition, CELFINET was distinguished with the SME Leader title by IAPMEI in collaboration with Turismo de Portugal, Banca, and Sociedades de Garantia Mútua.

At present, COTEC is recognized as the leading business association responsible for promoting innovation and technological business cooperation within the Portuguese Market.

Every year, the COTEC-BPI SME Innovation award recognizes small and medium-sized enterprises that stood out on the Portuguese landscape due to its innovative activity and fierce attitude.

The awards ceremony took place on November 20, at the 8th SME Innovation Meeting, in Benedita, Alcobaça. On the jury, important figures such as Artur Santos Silva from BPI (Portuguese Investment Bank), António Portela from Bial, and Isabel Mota from Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

Attributed by a jury mainly composed of directors from the largest economic groups in Portugal, the SME innovation Award distinguishes above all, excellence and rigor in the Portuguese industry.

With that in mind we’re proud to say that, due to our efforts in crafting these values over the past 12 years, CELFINET was able to place itself among the six finalists on this year’s edition.

As a user, how often do you struggle to get access to mobile services at parking lots, elevators or large-scale buildings? Too often.

Not to mention, most of our time is spent indoors. Putting a tremendous weight in mobile operators’ shoulders. After all, they need to provide a first-rate mobile experience in areas with difficult access to mobile signals.

With that said, the process of planning and optimizing cell tower locations for indoor coverage can be a challenge. Considering that the registration of signal variations is done by car, most of the data that is collected corresponds only to areas where vehicles can operate. Which doesn’t include indoor spaces.

To address this issue, CELFINET is developing GARMIO. A software library that can be integrated into the operator’s own mobile apps. A powerful web-based solution that centralizes and tracks data from different settings.

GARMIO will allow a precise georeferentiation for cell signal data from mobile devices in both indoor and outdoor spaces. Without requiring any GPS data!

Taking advantage of smartphone sensors, GARMIO can estimate the user’s location and even define mobility patterns. As it can have a huge influence on optimizing user experience. Using these sensors, GARMIO will register mobile signals with higher accuracy, linking coordinates and activities to signal strength indicators.

We strongly believe that, in the near future, this technology will also be useful in targeted advertising and indoor navigation systems.

In partnership with Fraunhofer AICOS, we aim to deliver a solution that can simplify the process of tracking indoor mobile signals. In the end, protecting the quality of mobile user experience while reducing costs.

One of the biggest and most influential tech events in South Africa – AfricaCom – took place last week at Cape Town International Convention Centre. This year’s edition brought together 400 exhibitors introducing 5G, AI and IOT solutions, 14.000 attendees and 450 incredible speakers from across the globe.

AfricaCom is an energetic place where Telecom operators look for inspiration and revamp Africa’s digital strategy with creative technologies. For that reason, we believed to be a great opportunity for CELFINET to introduce VISMON, our Network Management and Automation platform.

Africa’s mobile telecom infrastructure is complex due to the diversity in its availability and capability.

Nowadays, with m-commerce and m-banking services becoming increasingly popular,  Africa’s telecom operators are investing in the spectrum of the mobile infrastructure. Especially on the 700Mhz band and migration from 3G to LTE.

With this challenge in mind, CELFINET devoted four days to introducing VISMON’s virtualized solutions to visitors at AfricaCom. Our multi-vendor and multi-technology solutions address RAN management complexity, organizing network information from several geographic areas.

Africa’s telecom operators can quickly design, audit and implement network policies. In the end, ensuring QoS while reducing costs and hours of manual work through automated processes.

Furthermore, benchmark against competitors and troubleshoot using a top-notch GIS platform that highlights which areas need improvement. VISMON provides detailed analytics and intelligence dashboards which will support better decisions and ensure an easy migration between technologies.

Next year, we plan to grow collaborations with Africa’s telecom operators and research centers. Our primary goal is to achieve optimal mobile user experience throughout the various African countries and support overall digital transformation.
