Bel's Fanfare now on Kickstarter

Let’s make this project possible together!

Just a few weeks ago, we publicly announced another project we are working on: Bel’s Fanfare. Well, the Kickstarter campaign has now begun!

Bel’s Fanfare is one of the most personal projects we have embarked on as developers, and also the one where we are innovating the most compared to our previous games.

It is a whimsical RPG inspired by Zelda classic games and Spirited Away, as can be seen from its GameCube/PS2-era aesthetics and even some of the most beloved 3DS titles among fans.

It also features expressive bullet hell encounters, similar to those seen in Undertale, where rather than presenting an impossible challenge for players, it seeks to advance the narrative and share the deep lore of Bel’s Fanfare through gameplay in a more dynamic, interactive, and picturesque way.

This is Chibig’s second game in current development, alongside Elusive, also announced in early 2025, which has already smashed its Kickstarter goal and is scheduled for release in 2027. Check the full trailer!

For fans, for collectors, for the community

It has become a tradition at Chibig to link the development of a new game with a Kickstarter campaign. Not only because it makes it possible to finish it and bring it to all platforms (Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox), but also because it’s a way to involve the community and everyone who is attracted to the project.

Once again, the two elements that have attracted the most attention from players are the physical edition and the color figure. In previous campaigns, these were the two most supported rewards, along with the digital version of the game, as was the case with the Kickstarter for Mika and the Witch’s Mountain.

However, in our tireless quest to improve and find new ways to surprise our community, we have designed some exclusive and more collaborative rewards, such as The Chipig’s Arena.

Backers who support this reward will add a coin to a special, secret battle within Bel’s Fanfare against a greedy pig. The more backers, the more coins, the greater the challenge!

Some of these coins also include a message that can be customized by backers, which they will find as a pleasant surprise when they play the final version of the game.

For the first time ever, Bel’s Fanfare’s Kickstarter campaign features two figures: one in the purest amiibo style, smaller and adorable, showing the protagonist Bel and her gong-shield Ukoback, and another for true collectors, larger and very limited in number, where Bel rests peacefully in the palm of her father’s hand, the great Belceboo.

Supporting modern nostalgia

We won’t deny it: as gamers, we often remember how we felt and how much we connected with our first games and consoles decades ago.

That’s one of the motivations we had for creating Bel’s Fanfare, and we’d like to convey that to everyone who plays it. Nothing would make us happier than to make players feel like they did back then, and also to help them form a strong and deep connection with the story and its characters.

At Chibig, art and narrative have always been the two fundamental pillars of our games, and perhaps where we have put the most passion and effort, but Bel’s Fanfare is undoubtedly taking it one step further.

We will be revealing more content in the coming weeks, as well as more about the cast, lore, stretch goals and other amazing features from Bel’s Fanfare and the Kickstarter campaign.

New game: Bel’s Fanfare https://chibig.com/new-game-bels-fanfare/ https://chibig.com/new-game-bels-fanfare/#respond Wed, 14 Jan 2026 08:59:14 +0000 https://chibig.com/?p=36113

New game: Bel's Fanfare

A new expressive RPG by Chibig

Bel's Fanfare game horizontal cover

The video game news and events calendar kicks off 2026 with a new title in development: Bel’s Fanfare.

Bel’s Fanfare is an exploration-based RPG with expressive bullet hell encounters coming to Kickstarter next February 3rd — You can now follow the project to support it first!

In this game, we play as Bel, a little imp who is tasked with cleaning aura, a substance related to emotions, with her gong-shield Ukoback in what was once a luxurious cruise ship called The Witch of the Sea.

This is Chibig’s second game in development, alongside Elusive, also announced in early 2025, which has already smashed its Kickstarter goal and is scheduled for release in 2027.

A trip through fantasy and wonder

Inspired by the first Zelda 3D classics, we present our most atmospheric adventure to date, brimming with exciting and fast-paced combat and promising narrative excellence at every moment of this heartful story.

For many years, Belceboo and his many children have been left forgotten in the depths of The Witch of the Sea. Now, he has the chance to send his favorite daughter Bel to the outside, where she will serve the captain as the new aura cleaner.

The aura is a substance that stems from impurities of the soul. Wherever anxiety, heartbreak or traumatic memories are involved, aura will always sprout. Although for most people it represents something unpleasant and even threatening, for demons it’s just a delicacy.

Before parting, Belceboo grants Bel a final gift: the Ukoback gong-shield, an old family heirloom capable of disrupting and absorbing aura.

To the passengers, Bel is restoring the ship to its former glory, but in secret, she is setting in motion a plan to free her family from their imprisonment.

Bel’s Fanfare gameplay revolves around the gong-shield and its many mechanics, but it’s mainly composed of deep exploration, puzzle-solving and combat.

You must explore the many (hidden) rooms of the Witch of the Sea, bask in its glorious past and uncover its (unsettling) past history. Every area is carefully crafted with attention to detail and a nostalgic touch.

Sometimes, you’ll find a persistent aura that you can only fight in expressive bullet hell arenas with surprises at every stage. Culminate the experience of these encounters with stunning boss battles set inside the spirit of passengers and put their stories into a resolution.

“From Kiki’s Delivery Service to Spirited Away”

Bel’s Fanfare is the most different game we have ever created, especially when compared to all our previous releases. This is simply a reflection of the new phase the team is in, which we began to openly share with the announcement of Elusive last year.

This does not mean that we will never again develop quiet, cozy games like Summer in Mara, Deiland Pocket Planet, or Mika and the Witch’s Mountain, nor that all of our (hopefully many) future developments will feature combat and more “serious” settings.

We are simply continuing to be ourselves, creating the adventures that we feel most affinity for at any given moment, with the privilege of remaining independent so that we can experiment and continue to expand our skills and horizons.

Our references remain clear: the Zelda saga, Nintendo’s most nostalgic era, and, of course, Studio Ghibli. It’s just now we feel more like “Spirited Away” than “Kiki’s Delivery Service.”

Hope this has sparked your attention and that you want to join us on this journey!

We will be revealing more content in the coming weeks, as well as the most exclusive rewards of the campaign, which will include both digital and physical content.

Delving into Zoe and the Elusive lifestyle https://chibig.com/delving-into-zoe-and-the-elusive-lifestyle/ https://chibig.com/delving-into-zoe-and-the-elusive-lifestyle/#respond Wed, 03 Sep 2025 09:01:30 +0000 https://chibig.com/?p=36093

Delving into Zoe and the Elusive lifestyle

Elusive Memories cover art

As we announced at the beginning of the year, Chibig is primarily focused on the development of Elusive, previously shown at Chibig Presents 2022.

Elusive is a metroidvania that combines 3D and 2D gameplay, something uncommon in the genre, and is deeply inspired by the artistry of Studio Ghibli’s The Secret World of Arrietty and The Borrowers.

Following a successful Kickstarter campaign in April, all efforts are now focused on meeting the planned release date of 2027 on Steam (PC), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox.

Teaching and learning through Memories

Our protagonist Zoe is skilled and brave, without a doubt, but she is also young, and that means she still has a lot to learn about her abilities, other Elusive, and the world of Giant People.

Nothing would please developers more than to write lines and lines of text to explain everything about the world and characters they have built, but as players, we are also aware that very few people are willing to stop and read it.

So, since we know we’re here to play, especially when it comes to the Metroidvania genre, we’ll convey all this information, this lore, in small doses to support immersion without interrupting the gameplay too much.

To do this, we’ve created the Memories.

Memories are fragments, collectible objects that we will find while exploring the Giant House and that will tell us more about Zoe’s past, her relationship with her father, and the Elusive lifestyle.

Although we don’t have them all yet, we’re already working on it, so we will use them as an example so you can see what they consist of and enjoy these beautiful sketches.

“Following your steps”

Zoe says goodbye to her father, who is setting off on a new adventure far away.

Here we have little Zoe waving goodbye to her father as he sets off on a raid.

She’s still very young, but she already dreams of becoming one herself and exploring the world of the Giant People, full of unimaginable resources and treasures.

The Elusive raiders play a very important role in the society of these tiny beings, as thanks to them they find new places full of opportunities where they can settle and prosper.

Zoe’s father spends a lot of time on these raids and Zoe sometimes feels a bit lonely, but the excitement she feels when he returns home (especially because he always brings her a gift) comforts her.

“Second lives”

Zoe's father brought her a gift, a tiny button, from his last raid.

Treasures like this tiny button that her father brought back from his last foray, which in the eyes of the Giant People would be an insignificant object, but for Zoe is a real treasure.

The Elusive survive by borrowing many of these objects that the Giant People leave behind or do not value, so they are experts at giving them a second life and making the most of everything they find.

The only drawback is that, due to their small size, they cannot carry too many borrowed items with them, which is why Elusive raiders must constantly risk their lives to support the community.

“You’ll be a shadow”

Zoe and her father are playing the Shadow Dance, a technique that the Elusive learn to move stealthily through the houses of the Giant People.

Luckily, Zoe has her father’s expertise to help her become a true raider, so she started practicing Shadow Dance from a very young age.

Although it looks like a game, these are movements and behaviors that the Elusive have learned from insects and smaller animals to move around the giants’ homes undetected.

An Elusive’s priority is to go unnoticed, but if the strategy goes wrong, they are also prepared to slip away in the fastest and most acrobatic way possible!

There are still many more Memories on the way, so in the coming months we will be sharing more alongside Zoe’s stories and the Elusive lifestyle.

Remember to join the Chibig Discord server to see more exclusive content and share great moments with other players, talk about games, and much more.

New gameplay of Elusive at the MIX Summer Game Showcase https://chibig.com/new-gameplay-elusive-the-mix-summer-game-showcase/ https://chibig.com/new-gameplay-elusive-the-mix-summer-game-showcase/#respond Thu, 05 Jun 2025 08:15:01 +0000 https://chibig.com/?p=36068

Featuring new gameplay of Elusive at the MIX Summer Game Showcase

Elusive cover for the MIX Summer Game Showcase event

Two months after the Kickstarter campaign ended, Elusive returns with new unreleased content showing more gameplay to the thousands of spectators and attendees of one of the largest video game events: the Indie Media Exchange Summer Game Showcase.

Although there are still many more levels to be shown, in these scenes we can see a first proposal of the level of detail and quality of each scenario, which will undoubtedly help to create a more immersive and enjoyable experience.

In this new gameplay trailer, more scenarios from Elusive are shown both outside and inside the big house where the adventure takes place, giving a glimpse of the platforming skills that we will use both to advance through levels and to get rid of being captured by large animals like the crow.

Check the trailer!

Interactions with large animals in Elusive

While being the size of a pencil has its benefits, it is certainly a disadvantage when there are large animals around. And by big animals, we mean “harmless and funny” (if you’re human, of course) creatures like a crow or a cat.

These two animals will be our biggest threats during our raids, and it’s because the Elusive are part of their diet, as would other small animals such as mice or insects.

The crow relentlessly watches the outside of the house, where the garden and other intermediate areas are located. The outside offers less protection and we will have to be especially cautious when moving between plants and branches, but we will also have to be prepared to confront it directly if things get complicated!

As any owner will attest, the cat is the master of the house, especially the kitchen. This will give us some respite in other areas of the inside, but when we explore this area full of delicious resources we will have to be careful not to fall into his sharp claws.

Although they will be moments of great tension, these chases and confrontations will also be a great opportunity to test our combat, stealth and platforming skills, and show what the Elusives Raiders are capable of!

From Guerrilla Collective to The MIX Summer Game Showcase

The event arose in 2012 focused on raising visibility, discoverability and celebrating amazing games and the talented people who create them. The MIX has expanded with a variety of formats, programs and initiatives, but onsite and online showcases are the best known by the community.

Onsite Showcases
Developers and publishers can share their games with journalists, streamers and other people from the industry around the world seeking for new interesting games.

The Summer Showcase is historically celebrated in Los Angeles, next to other big events such as the Summer Game Fest, IGN Live or Pocket Gamer Connects.

Online Showcases
MIX online showcases have been regularly expanding, reaching millions of viewers, helping publishers and developers share game announcements, news and reveals with gamers everywhere.

The online event shares big new game announcement reveals, trailer premieres, fresh gameplay and more on Twitch and Youtube, and organising a dedicated Steam event to support discoverability.

We’re very excited with these little previews we can show you about how it will feel to play Elusive at such an important event as the MIX Summer Game Showcase, and we hope they will make you want to play it even more when the time comes!

Feel free to let us know what you think of this new look on our socials or in the comments of the trailer on Youtube.

In the coming months, we will continue to share more content about its story, characters, scenarios and mechanics, and so we strongly encourage you to join our Discord community

Elusive’s Kickstarter and Mika’s Third Content Patch https://chibig.com/elusives-kickstarter-mikas-content-patch/ https://chibig.com/elusives-kickstarter-mikas-content-patch/#respond Thu, 27 Mar 2025 10:32:01 +0000 https://chibig.com/?p=36037

Elusive's Kickstarter and Mika Third Content Patch

March has arrived for our studio like a breath of fresh air, full of positive and renewed energy. Elusive’s Kickstarter campaign has far exceeded its goal, being a success, and the latest free content patch for Mika and the Witch’s Mountain has already arrived on Steam.

Elusive video game cover with Zoe, the protagonist and their Elusive friends.

2024 was a year of reflection for our studio, as we mentioned in this post about our future as indie game developers, and we had high expectations for this new year.

At the beginning of 2025 we announced our next project after the August 2023 release of Mika and the Witch’s Mountain, Elusive, a game we showed very subtly at the 2022 Chibig Presents along with many other projects we were involved in together with other Spanish studios, such as Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara.

And, coinciding with the arrival of spring, the good news has arrived to our team in this month of March, we’re very motivated!

Elusive’s Kickstarter campaign

Elusive is a project we have been working on since 2020, although more slowly than Mika and the Witch’s Mountain and Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara.

Following the inspiration of The Secret World of Arrietty (Studio Ghibli) and It Takes Two (Hazelight Studios), we have created the fantasy of living adventures being very small in a giant world.

Although the two fundamental aspects of all our projects are the art and the narrative, where we put all our heart and the skills that most stand out from the people who make up our team, we also seek new challenges and explore new things with each new game.

In Elusive we have decided to explore aspects of the metroidvania genre, as well as the combination of 2D and 3D platforming; and also to delve deeper into combat, mechanics that we played with a bit in previous installments, such as Ankora Lost Days.

As with all our previous projects, we have decided to make a Kickstarter campaign for Elusive, where we will get the resources to finish the game and publish it in 2027, and of course involve our beloved community in the process.

Mika and the Witch’s Mountain’s Final Content Update

After the release of Mika and the Witch’s Mountain in August 2024 we have continued to work hard for its release on Xbox and PlayStation, but also to continue developing more free content

This is the first time we have done this with any of our games and, although it is a demanding process, the result has been very positive and we are very pleased with the outcome, especially with all the support and feedback we have received from Mika players on channels such as Discord and on the Steam forum.

This month we published Into The Mont Gaun on Steam, the third and last free content patch, but also the one that adds more hours of gameplay to the base game. This update unlocks access to 3 dungeons inside the great mountain of the island, each one related to an element: fire, air and water.

These dungeons are a combination of skill and puzzles (and a lot of fun) and inspired by The Legend of Zelda dungeons, with which we will get new cosmetics for the broom, a new outfit for our little witch Mika and a much requested ability: flying upwards.

We are also celebrating that our game has been released in Japan thanks to our publisher Pikii, with a lovely exclusive Asian edition and multilanguage feature, so everyone can enjoy it on their console!

We’re now working hard to fix the bugs reported by our committed community to get this content, and the two previous content patches, onto consoles as soon as possible.

We hope all players around the world will enjoy more of Mika’s adventures on their favorite platform!

Our Discord server is a safe and fun space to share with other Chibig fans and players, and also our favourite channel to chat with you and give support to any question. Join us!

Elusive Chibig’s new indiegame development https://chibig.com/elusive-chibigs-new-indiegame-development/ https://chibig.com/elusive-chibigs-new-indiegame-development/#respond Wed, 05 Mar 2025 16:06:28 +0000 https://chibig.com/?p=36013

Elusive Chibig's new indiegame development

An adventure about being tiny in a huge world

Chibig’s new development, Elusive, puts us in the tiny boots of Zoe, an intrepid raider who arrives at a giant haunted house following the footsteps of her father, an experienced Elusive explorer.

There, she will find much more than clues to his whereabouts, also other Elusive trying to reclaim their past and thriving community, a great mystery to be solved and, of course, valuable treasures that humans are not even aware of.

The Steam page is already available for you to wishlist, but you can also back the game now on Kickstarter and get exclusive rewards!

In celebration of the eighth anniversary of the development studio and after the launch on all platforms (Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox) of Mika and the Witch’s Mountain, Elusive arrives with a proposal where Chibig wants to put into practice everything learned in their previous developments.

Incursions by day, rest at night

In Elusive adventures are around every corner, literally.

You will explore a big house, inside and outside, full of unimaginable treasures, but also meet new Elusive that can help you in the search for your father and you will find other animals, although not all of them will be friendly.

The results of your raids will provide you with resources with which to improve your equipment and open new paths of exploration, but also to help your new Elusive community to prosper.

You will have to watch your feet!

Don’t forget that everything could be very dangerous when you are so small, and you will have to face animals that will chase you, and others that won’t make it easy for you to explore freely.

Fortunately, at the end of the day, you can return to Red-Watering Can, your little Elusive shelter where you can trade the treasures you have found that day, improve your equipment to access new areas in your future raids and simply rest and recharge your batteries.

Little by little, you will see how this space fills up with new Elusive and friendly animals to form a thriving community and a place to call home.

Behind Elusive’s development

If we talk about works where the main characters are tiny humanoid beings living adventures in huge worlds (what for us would be life-size), the references of The Secret World of Arrietty, It Takes Two and The Plucky Squire come quickly to mind.

Chibig has always taken Studio Ghibli as a source of inspiration in almost all its developments, especially for its touching stories and characteristic graphics.

As for the gameplay, we can find a combination of genres within “adventure” and that will also make us think of previous installments such as Summer in Mara or Ankora Lost Days, but also new elements for the team, such as those of the metroidvania genre.

If you want to support this new Chibig adventure, you can already do it on Kickstarter and also get exclusive early rewards. But you can also add it to your wishlist on Steam, the page is already live!

Check the Early Access pledges, such as Early Digital Game and Early Physical Edition, with a special price for a limited time only. Especially if you are a collector! Because we’re going to put all our efforts to make the physical edition of Elusive for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 a reality.

Join the Discord community to discover unreleased content of Elusive and share your questions or comments with the development team and other players.

Have a fruitful raid!

Coming to Kickstarter: Elusive

Elusive video game cover with Zoe, the protagonist and their Elusive friends.

We are happy to announce our next game in development, Elusive, which is also coming soon to Kickstarter!

At Chibig Presents 2022 we presented all the games in which Chibig was involved as a developer (Mika and the Witch’s Mountain, Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara, Ankora Lost Days,…) and after 3 years we are proud to announce the development of Elusive.

Over the last years, we have been focused on the development of Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara and Mika and the Witch’s Mountain, and now that both projects have seen the light of day, it’s time to pick up the reins on what’s next.

Elusive is the last game in development of all those announced at that event, and begins its journey to the world with a Kickstarter campaign that will start very soon.

If you enjoyed Studio Ghibli’s film The Secret World of Arrietty or games like the Plucky Squire, It Takes Two or Grounded, you’ll be getting pretty excited about our upcoming project!

The world is a dangerous place when you’re 10cm (4”) tall.

About Elusive

Elusive is an exploration adventure with metroidvania elements where we play as Zoe, a young raider in search of adventure and treasure in the giant world of humans.

In Elusive, we will move with stealth and skill through 2D and 3D scenarios, while we unlock new paths and get resources of all kinds to survive and advance in our adventure.

In addition, we will meet other Elusive with whom we will build a new community in this huge haunted house and progress together. Get resources and materials so that other Elusive artisans can create better tools and equipment for Zoe and reach new unexplored areas full of secrets.

But be careful! Although the Elusive know their way around, the house is full of dangerous animals that won’t hesitate to try to trap you and make things difficult for you.

At Chibig, we find it fascinating to transform everyday objects into monuments and structures to discover and explore. Or to create pathways using all kinds of tricks and inventions while presenting dangers that turn the journey of these tiny beings into a true challenge.

Elusive also offers a rich array of warm and beautiful spaces—safe havens where you can pause to rest, chat with other characters, and admire the beauty of the world when seen up close.

Many people may remember the Mika and the Witch’s Mountain Kickstarter for its huge impact, but it wasn’t Chibig’s first campaign. All of the studio’s games have gone through a successful Kickstarter campaign, and Elusive could not be the exception.

Kickstarter campaigns go beyond the main goal of raising the resources to complete the development of the game, it’s also a very exciting moment for us where we can engage and involve our community.

With the Elusive campaign, we hope to make this goal for the game a reality and also bring the players who have been accompanying and supporting us for many years. And of course, we hope that new players will discover us and want to be part of this development!

We will reveal more information about the campaign, goals, rewards and information about the game in the coming weeks.

We will soon reveal the launch date of the Kickstarter campaign and more details about Elusive, but for now you can support the campaign by hitting the follow button.

You’ll be receiving a notification when the campaign is live to not miss anything, like the Early Limited Rewards.

You can also join our Discord server and find out all the news about Elusive in its brand new channel, but also talk with other players about the Chibig Universe of games and anything else you like.

See you soon with more details!

Mika and the Witch’s Mountain launches today! https://chibig.com/mika-and-the-witchs-mountain-launches-today/ https://chibig.com/mika-and-the-witchs-mountain-launches-today/#respond Wed, 22 Jan 2025 15:22:56 +0000 https://chibig.com/?p=35877

Mika and the Witch's Mountain launches today!

Mika and the Witch's Mountain launch day cover.

Mika and the Witch’s Mountain fully launches today on all platforms and there’s more new free content on the way with the Content Patches for the Kiki’s Delivery Service meets Wind Waker charming game.

Wanna know more about the references behind Mika and the Witch’s Mountain development? Check this two posts: Bringing the summer vibes of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker to Mika and the Witch’s Mountain and From Ghibli’s Kiki’s Delivery Service to Mika and the Witch’s Mountain.

Today, Mika and the Witch’s Mountain leaves Early Access status and reaches all platforms: PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series, with limited release discounts in some of them.

The team have also continued expanding this adventure with free content patches (2 of them already available on Steam) and improving the experience thanks to the community’s feedback and support. This content added new quests, minigames, characters and cosmetics, but there’s more to come.

This content was not planned from the beginning of development, but came about thanks to the incredible support received in the Kickstarter campaign in 2023.

In addition to making possible the physical edition of Mika and the Witch’s Mountain for Nintendo Switch and other physical items, such as tarot cards or the figure of the protagonist, the stretch goals reached provided the support the team needed to include more content in the game:

  • The fishing minigame
  • The Feed the Kittens quest
  • The Churro Express racing minigame
  • Zelda-like dungeons
  • More characters
  • The pet companion
  • The minimap
  • New outfits for Mika and cosmetics for her broom
  • Hundreds of ingame collectibles
  • A song composed by Mark Sparling, composer of A Short Hike

Most of this content is already available for Steam, and will come very soon for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox with the third content patch.

The final content patch: Into the Mont Gaun, will be included in the following weeks. Three Zelda-like dungeons to go deep into the depths of the mountain, prove yourself and unveil the secrets of the elements.

We’ll be dedicating a new post to talk in depth about these mysterious dungeons, because it’s a content that has grown more than we expected (both in gameplay time and quality) and we are very proud of it as developers.

After 5 months in Early Access and very positive reviews, the game had sold over 60k copies. With all the new content added from that, this charming indiegame will offer +8 hours of gameplay, maybe more for the need-to-get-all ones.

For everyone to join and for a limited time, Chibig is hosting a launch discount in some of these platforms: 30% off on Steam, 15% off on Nintendo Switch (Europe region) and 15% off for PlayStation Plus users. The Xbox discount will come a few weeks later.

We can now confirm our intentions to launch the physical edition worldwide in 2025. The joy of our backers, who have been receiving their copies during these days, has inspired us to make a general release so that more fans of Mika’s adventures can have a physical copy in their collection.

Exclusive copies of the Kickstarter backers have been spotted in the last few weeks in social media. Here are some amazing examples:

Don’t hesitate to join our Discord server, where you’ll find an amazing community to talk to not only about our Chibig Universe of games, but also incredible people to share experiences and other hobbies. And also us, Chibig, that we’ll be happy to answer your questions and talk about the unknown stories behind our games!

During these 4 months, the team has taken the opportunity to listen to the community’s opinion and developed more content into the game for free.

“We want to thank our community for all the feedback and support they’ve shared with us during the Early Access —Abraham Cozar, Chibig’s CEO, says— because that has helped us launch a better experience today, a better game.”

  • Fishing Minigame.
  • Churro Express racing minigame.
  • Save the Kitten minigame.
  • Pet companion.
  • New languages.
  • New cosmetics.
  • More achievements.

The “Into the Mont Gaun” Third Content Patch, will come in the following weeks, including 3 dungeons to explore the depths of the island where the adventure takes place, with a very similar vibe to the dungeons of The Legend of Zelda games.

This Third Content Patch will be the last one, completing all the content planned for the game before the successful Kickstarter campaign in 2023, and providing around 8 hours of gameplay.

About First Content Patch - Churros & Cats

This First Free Content Patch: Churros & Cats came in October for Steam, here’s the full update notes

Churro Express minigame

Awan, the Ank, has come to Orilla Town to set up his chocolate & churro business.

He wants to try an innovative home delivery service, but he needs someone who can do it at the right time so that the chocolate doesn’t get cold.

In this minigame you will have to complete 7 circuits scattered all over The Island of the Winds in a given time to demonstrate your skills with the magic broom. Have you mastered the twists and turns and the air currents?

Churro Express minigame is unlocked after the delivery of the drone invoice package (Andros and twins) and completing it successfully will give you the Mika Churrera skin and the keychain of the toy.

Note: for those of you who have played previous Chibig adventures, such as Summer in Mara, yes! Awan appears in other games.

Save the Kitties minigame

Kitty and cute animal lovers, we need you!

5 kittens have come to Orilla Town for shelter, but they are very hungry — could you feed them (please say yes)?

Collect the cans of food that you can get at the Amazing Deliveries office and find each kitten to feed them.

This mini-game will be available after completing Act 3.

The Pet Companion

After completing the special training that Miss Olagari had prepared for you, many things have changed.

Note: you must be equipped with the Raven keychain for Edgar to appear.

New cosmetics and achievements

This First Free Content Patch also includes 2 new outfits: Churrera and Magical Girl and 4 new keychains to the marketplace: cat, crow, star and toy.

About Second Content Patch - Minifriends

Second Free Content Patch: Minifriends was added in December to Steam, here’s the full update notes.

Minimap

Although it has been difficult to find the balance between a clean interface and the addition of a useful minimap, we have succeeded!

Mika, the delivery witch, contemplating Orilla Town from the roofs.

You will now have the help of a minimap in the upper right corner of the screen, which you can make a little bigger by pressing the right arrow key.

Fishing Minigame

As you know, old seawolf O’Vel is nostalgic for the days when he sailed the seas, and fish are a nice reminder of those times.

Mika, the delivery witch, holding a fish tank with a little fish inside.

In this minigame you can bring him back the joy by bringing him some of the fish that roam the waters of Mont Gaun, but don’t think it will be easy!

We had a lot of fun designing this minigame and creating these little friends, so hope you like it.

New language: Valencian

Like all our previous games, Mika and the Witch’s Mountain had to include Valencian among its languages.

Screenshot from Mika and the Witch's Mountain gameplay, where Mikia and O'Vel are talking to show the Valencian language just added to the game.

We know that very few people will play in this language, but we are very proud of our land and language!

We are only a week away from launch and we are very excited to continue sharing Mika’s adventures with you all, now to the full.

Remember that you can share your experiences and find out more about our other games on our Discord server, as well as ask us questions and solve your doubts.

As always, thank you very much for your support and for helping us to make Mika and the Witch’s Mountain a better game.

Chibig’s future as indiegame developers https://chibig.com/chibig-future-as-indiegame-developers/ https://chibig.com/chibig-future-as-indiegame-developers/#respond Mon, 23 Dec 2024 11:03:42 +0000 https://chibig.com/?p=35766

Chibig's future as indiegame developers

This 2024 has been a turning point for Chibig as indiegame developers and we want to open our hearts.

Everything we have experienced this year has affected us on many levels and, in some way, has changed us.

From 2025 onwards you’re going to see some changes in us and in our way of doing things, and we want to share the reasons behind this.

There is a lot to tell, so we will be brief, but we want to start by thanking you for taking the time to read it.

Let’s start with some context

Our journey as indiegame developers started in a far 2016, with a single person: Abraham.

At that time, the mobile platform seemed one of the most accessible for a single person with limited resources who wanted to tell his own stories as solodev, and that’s how the adventures of Arco with Deiland and Mûn with Ankora ended up coming to light, the beginning of Chibig universe.

With some more experience and knowledge about videogame development and self-publishing, Chibig’s steps started to approach new platforms, PC and consoles, with the development of Summer in Mara.

At this point, the team already has the wonderful work of people who are still in the team today, such as Vicente, Caro, and Monica, and we’re approaching a turning point at a global level: a pandemic

In the video game industry, it was a situation of great uncertainty, especially for indiegame developers, where teams had to quickly adapt to working remotely in the face of a future that raised many questions.

Fortunately, we now know how this story continues.

The successful launch of Summer in Mara, the adaptations of Deiland (Deiland Pocket Planet) and Ankora (Ankora Lost Days) to consoles and PC/Steam. In addition to joining forces to develop projects with other indiegame developer studios with the adventures of Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara (Talpa Games, Undercoders), Creatures of Ava (Inverge Studios, 11bit) and Mika and the Witch’s Mountain (Nukefist).

But what's next?

It’s no secret that the video game industry is going through a very bad time, and indiegame development studios are no exception.

During 2024 we have been watching all these changes and hearing the bad news month after month and, unfortunately, we have not been exempt from living it inside our team.

Maybe someone will be surprised to read this after the successful Kickstarter of Mika and the Witch’s Mountain, but as we already developed in the Post mortem of the campaign, not everything is as easy or wonderful as it seems, and it’s been almost two years since then.

We were very glad to have had the opportunity to develop videogames with other studios, for all that we learned from them, and to have told stories full of hope, joy and excitement. That was how we felt in those years since the release of Summer in Mara (2020). That was us.

However, coproduction with other game studios is a road we won’t continue to travel for now.

Circumstances have brought us to a situation of restraint and caution, and we must support each other more than ever to withstand the blows of indie game development.

We are tired but proud. We have survived this 2024 and we will continue to make video games

Maybe the adventures to come won’t be as wholesome as the previous ones, but they will be more personal than ever. We want to explore new tones and themes. We will create video games to tell our story, how we feel, and who we are now.

“From Kiki’s Delivery Service to Spirited Away.”

We hope you will continue to join us on this journey. And yes, this is an official confirmation that we’re developing something new.

Never forget to take care of yourselves and the people you love.

Happy Holidays!
