We develop the knowledge and networks for an actionable circular economy in Berlin.
Circular Berlin is a non-profit driving systemic change for a regenerative and resource-resilient city. We connect policy, education, business, and community to turn circular ideas into daily practice.

OUR MISSION
We empower Berlin to become a living blueprint for the circular economy.
Our mission is to remove structural barriers, connect changemakers, and translate circular principles into everyday practice across markets, society, and policymaking.
We create tangible value for citizens and communities, businesses and institutions, and the environment.
Together, we are shifting Berlin from a linear take–make–waste system toward a circular model that keeps materials, knowledge, and resources in continuous use.
OUR VISION
A regenerative Berlin that thrives within planetary boundaries.
We envision a city where people, communities, businesses, and nature are equal stakeholders.
Resources are sourced locally if possible, used only if truly needed, and their value is maintained as part of a continuous loop, within the limits of our planet.
Waste and pollution are non-existent, collaboration is the norm, and Berlin stands as a global model for circular culture, economy, and governance.
Our Values
Open
We share knowledge transparently and make our work accessible to all.
Collaborative
We believe big challenges can only be solved together, across disciplines and sectors.
Systemic
We look at the bigger picture and address the root causes of linear structures.
Local
We start in Berlin, working with and for the city, while sharing lessons globally.
Diverse minds for systemic change
We are strategists, educators, researchers, designers, and community builders united by one goal: transforming Berlin into a circular city. Circular Berlin began in 2018, when four volunteers mapped more than 120 circular initiatives across the city, revealing a vibrant but disconnected landscape.
What started as a grassroots effort grew into a non-profit that bridges sectors, builds programs, and drives systemic change. Today, our strength lies in diversity of skills, perspectives, and partnerships.
Our team brings together diverse skills and backgrounds, from circular design and urban planning to policy innovation and community engagement.
