I just returned from Madrid, where attended together with Jihyun Kim the Visualizar ’09 workshop at the Media Lab Prado. Jihyun and I are the authors of the FLUflux project, which was accepted for its production at the workshop, process which took place during the last two weeks, from November 14th until 26th. Click on the image below to open the resulting visualization tool, and keep reading the following for the details about this visualization.

GLGraphics 0.9.2: better integration with Processing camera (and more) 13 comments
This new release of GLGraphics (0.9.2, Update: use this other package if you need a Java5-compatible version) includes a couple of exciting new features/improvements. First of all, code using GLModels (the class that stores 3D models directly in the GPU memory for fast rendering) can be safely mixed with the default Processing methods for camera and viewport handling. Secondly, the API of the GLModel class has been expanded with many utility methods to load data into a model (this includes the possibility of loading an entire model from an xml file). And finally, a new class called GLModelEffect encapsulates shaders that are applied during the rendering of a GLModel. This allows for effects like bump mapping, toon shading, fur rendering, etc. Read the rest of this entry »
Real cat/pixel dog 3 comments
Hansi Raber made this little motion tracking application in Processing, using GLGraphics and openCV, that allows his cat Elsa to play with Miku, a virtual dog. From the video description:
“Miku is a software-dog that runs on a lcd screen that sits flat on the floor, a camera is hanging above it from the ceiling and detects the shapes that are put on top of it, in this case – my cat.”

FLUR interactive video wall Leave a comment
Here is a project using GSVideo for playback of multiple videos in a LED public interactive video wall. I met Bae, Jaehyuck, an electrical engineering student from Seoul National University, who used GSVideo to implement the video playback mechanism of the installation. Proximity sensors trigger different videos as people approaches the water fountains located behind the screen. Up to nine videos are played simultaneously by the application.
