This year's hackathon will take place over the weekend of the mid-sem break, where teams comprised of 3-5 students will create a software project under the given theme of “Turning the Tide”. Participants are asked to brainstorm ideas under 3 different tracks under the given theme:
Track 1: Sustainability and Environment
The Sustainability and Environment project theme focuses on promoting sustainable practices and environmental stewardship to help mitigate the impacts of climate change. This track encourages hackers to develop innovative solutions that address the pressing environmental challenges facing the planet. Participants are encouraged to explore ideas that promote sustainable resource management, reduce waste and pollution, conserve biodiversity, and promote sustainable consumption patterns. The projects can include initiatives related to sustainable agriculture, sustainable transportation, sustainable energy production, and conservation of natural resources, among others. The goal of this theme is to encourage participants to develop creative solutions that contribute to a more sustainable future for all.
Track 2: Emerging Technologies
The Emerging/Disruptive Technologies project theme focuses on exploring cutting-edge technologies that have the potential to fundamentally transform various industries and sectors. This track encourages participants to think outside the box and develop innovative solutions that leverage emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, 5G, and the Internet of Things (IoT), among others. Participants are encouraged to brainstorm ideas that disrupt traditional business models and introduce new, more efficient ways of delivering products and services. The projects can include initiatives related to digital transformation, smart cities, fintech, healthcare, and education, among others. The goal of this theme is to encourage participants to develop disruptive solutions that challenge the status quo and pave the way for a more innovative and prosperous future.
Track 3: Health and Society
The Health and Society project theme focuses on exploring the complex relationship between health and social determinants. This track encourages participants to develop innovative solutions that promote health equity, social justice, and community resilience. Participants are encouraged to brainstorm ideas that address the social, economic, and environmental factors that impact health outcomes, such as poverty, access to healthcare, social isolation, and environmental pollution. The projects can include initiatives related to healthcare delivery, mental health, social support, and community engagement, among others. The goal of this theme is to encourage participants to develop solutions that promote health and well-being across diverse populations and address the root causes of health disparities.
