Returning once again in 2024, Codebrew 2024: Shaping the Future is CISSA’s latest instalment of our flagship hackathon!

We welcome all students, regardless of skill level, to work through an exhilarating and rewarding 72 hours in a team environment to experience the joy of coming up with innovative ideas and building new things. For the first time, participants will have the option to stay at the event venue overnight!

With the goal of our hackathon being to develop the participants’ technical knowledge, we will also be holding workshops on topics related to UI/UX design, web development, version control etc. leading up to and during the event. Experienced mentors from industry leaders such as Atlassian, Jane Street, Airwallex etc. will also be present to provide participants with guidance and offer expert opinions on their ideas.

This year’s theme, “Shaping the Future”, revolves around creating projects that will leave a lasting positive impact on our lives and on society. Participants will be able to choose between 3 themes that have been carefully curated:

Track 1: Emerging Technologies

The Emerging/Disruptive Technologies project theme focuses on exploring cutting-edge technologies that have the potential to fundamentally transform various industries and sectors. This track encourages participants to think outside the box and develop innovative solutions that leverage emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, 5G, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Participants are encouraged to brainstorm ideas that disrupt traditional business models and introduce new, more efficient ways of delivering products and services. The projects can include initiatives related to digital transformation, smart cities, fintech, healthcare, and education, among others. This theme aims to encourage participants to develop disruptive solutions that challenge the status quo and pave the way for a more innovative and prosperous future.

Track 2: Humanitarian Solutions

The Humanitarian Solutions project theme focuses on utilising technological solutions to assist humanitarian efforts worldwide. With issues such as poverty, famine and war affecting a significant portion of the globe, this track encourages participants to innovate and create solutions that positively impact those in need. This can include disaster response systems, education platforms and logistics for supply distribution. This track aims to provide participants with an avenue to do good with their skills in technology and potentially transform the nature of humanitarian aid via technological innovation.

Track 3: TechLife Convenience

The TechLife Convenience project theme is all about improving modern day-to-day life with the use of technology. From office applications that allow for better workflow to personal finance trackers that log your transactions, there are endless possibilities when it comes to ways that innovation can provide convenience. This track aims to provide participants with an opportunity to create projects that they can use themselves on a daily basis, enhancing their lives with technology.

Leverage your creativity and construct innovative projects that the world needs!
