Supernotes Community - Latest posts https://community.supernotes.app Latest posts Search for text in the images in the card Is this still true? A year has passed, and I’d like to know if it remains on the roadmap or if something has changed.

This is a big feature, and for someone who likes to take screenshots to save information, it would be amazing to be able to find notes without the need to duplicate information in the note (image + copy text from the image) to find a note.

Numbered list after multi edit Hi @G98Productive,

This is currently expected, our Markdown renderer will automatically renumber the list in display mode; and makes switching between list types easy with multi-edit. We’re got some plans to improve this behaviour slightly in the future

Numbered list after multi edit Hello,

Having a list of books I thought it would look better to have this numbered so I used the multi edit lines trick which upon completing the edit pressing CMD and Enter the numbers look fine as you see below.

That is until you going into edit mode once more and it displays with all ones - is this expected?

How do I stop this or correct this even? or is it a bug?

Parent/child and linked card navigation/traversing with a keyboard Hi @fiftieth,

When focused on the first card in the Noteboard, we previously added a way for you to go up with the arrow keys and focus on the parent card cover (it highlights the edit button to indicate this). Although with recent changes to columns / tables layouts we’ve removed this and are planning on adding it back soon.

In the meantime the suggestions you’ve mentioned are the best bet. And I’ve modified this FR to be ‘in-development’ again.

Increase speed of Append to Daily When doing Alt+D to add a Task which is on my mind, the entry seems gone. Only after a long time, or after Ctrl+R, the entry appears on the Daily Note (or the Daily Note itself appears when it was the first thing).
Why is this not available instantly?
Maybe this is related to the very slow syncing between devices?

Parent/child and linked card navigation/traversing with a keyboard This thread seems to address my question, though I don’t see the answer. It may be because @fuzzy.beach mentioned two things in the original post. Perhaps “implemented” only refers to the minor issue? I could create a new thread for the other, if it helps.

Q: How best to navigate via keyboard within a noteboard view to the parent card up top? I find myself needing to make adjustments there, based on the edits I’ve made in the cards below. It would be nice to flip between the parent and child cards via keyboard.

I’ve found three ways to do this, but none as simple as the up/down navigation between the child cards below. Here’s what I’ve tried:

  • universal search (seems overkill to reach the card I’m looking at)
  • recent card list (less overkill, but still)
  • link navigation from the top child card, pressing Shift+Tab (my favorite, but clunky)

I seem to be missing something, and this thread is marked “implemented,” so what am I missing?

BTW, as a new SN user gradually applying it to various uses as I learn, I love the work you’ve done, especially on keyboard functionality.

Drag space bar to move cursor on Android doesnt work Description of the bug
In edit mode, I should be able to slide thumb across space bar to slide cursor since that’s the expected keyboard behavior, but it doesn’t do anything.

Device, App & Version

Android 16
App version

Steps to reproduce

  1. enter edit mode for a card
  2. tap to put cursor somewhere
  3. slide thumb across spacebar to adjust cursor - nothing happens!

Alternative to AWS hosting? Thanks for the swift response.
All understood and appreciated, performance as part of the reason I bought into the service and supernotes is software I really enjoy using and recommend regularly.
Good idea to link to images hosted elsewhere, though the underlying suggestion/query was more motivated by general distaste at indirectly giving money to amazon.

Still love the platform and service.

Supernotes 3.3 Roadmap Hi @ivomota, no need to apologise at all! Sorry if I came across too direct, we get this question frequently :joy:

We do send periodic emails with big releases where we tease what we’re working on next, and sometimes do the same on social media. We’ve also been focusing on this forum heavily as is a big indicator to us what people are interested in, and the discussions and suggestions here a very constructive. For longstanding users who’ve been with us for many years, we’ll do small closed user testing sessions as well, especially before big releases with lots of breaking changes.

Localisation is one of the big things that’s coming soon, and I’m sure we’ll enlist a bunch of your help - if you know another language do let us know  - Is there a way to contribute to translations?

Create a daily card for tomorrow / yesterday / custom date And @ivomota you can’t change the dates of daily cards intentionally, we wrestled with this internally a bunch but it made the feature over-complicated.

It’s meant to be a record of what you wanted to did that day, once you start changing the dates, you might as well just use a normal card with a targeted date and a #daily tag and modify your Daily Collection to include cards tagged with #daily.

Alternative to AWS hosting? Hi @GMac, welcome to the Supernotes Community!

We use London & EU based servers for the entire Supernotes infrastructure. The AWS server location (is in the EU West region) and is not in the US, although granted it is a US company. Since we support Markdown image links, you can always self host your images somewhere else and link to them.

Answering both of your questions above, Supernotes was born out of frustration from slow and unreliably syncing services – the entire app and infrastructure has been developed to be sync and cloud first from day one; along with seamless collaboration. We have internally thought about having federated servers, but this abstraction creates a huge amount of overhead - and we’re favouring simplicity that just works. So from that point of view, it’s unlikely that we’ll support self-hosting in the future. But we’ve deliberately built Supernotes on the open Markdown format and with our API your notes are very transferable and exportable – we don’t believe in locking you in.

Alternative to AWS hosting? Related to this point and several other threads in tangential ways, a self-hosted version of supernotes would be incredible.

I realize Connor and Tobias currently still plan to support the app even as they take on full time roles, but, should a time come where the strain becomes infeasible, offering a self-hosted option would significantly reduce maintenance burden on the team and would also rectify some concerns people have raised about subscriptions given feature release rates (I realize our subscriptions are paying for more than just new feature work, namely operating costs, but I do get where some of these dissatisfactions might be coming from).

I’d even be down with simply syncing my notes using git or something. In any case, giving users options around storage and synchronization could be a great thing, I think. Obsidian is maybe a good example here. They offer their own synchronization services but one can also just use iCloud (on apple devices) or git, or any other synchronization provider, or simply not bother with syncing and accept that access is limited to one device. Obviously this is a big ask, as it complicates usage, flows, etc. significantly. But anyway this is my long winded way of saying +1.

Alternative to AWS hosting? Because I see AWS url’s when uploading images etc, I assume all the services are hosted in AWS.
I realist this is probably substantially more than a feature request, but I would personally be willing to pay an additional premium to not be hosted with any of the US oligopolists.
Is there any future appetite or potential to use Supernotes with a self-hosted local server, or a personal/private domain on the web, or a sovereign UK / EU cloud service.

]]>
https://community.supernotes.app/t/alternative-to-aws-hosting/3625#post_1 Tue, 03 Feb 2026 12:08:45 +0000 community.supernotes.app-post-10941
Create a daily card for tomorrow / yesterday / custom date Yesterday, I created a card for today inside the Dailies collection.
I gave the title 2026-02-03
But today, when I appended to my daily card using the Raycast integration, it has created another card with the same title: 2026-02-03

Clicking on the little icon for the daily card that I created yesterday, it says “Daily card appended to 2nd February 2026.”

Is there any way to change that? I would like to be able to create a daily card for tomorrow and append some tasks to do, or if I forget to create one from a past date, I want to be able to add one to the Daily Collection with the correct date.

I have changed that target date, but this does not work with the daily card collection.

Supernotes 3.3 Roadmap Hi @tobias
My apologies if I was not clear!
I don’t mean to say that I think you guys should ship a ton of features. Also, the apps I use most often are from small teams and have a slow pace.
I really like a minimalist approach to software, so I don’t want you to start doing the opposite.

What I really mean is that you can share what’s coming next or what you are working on right now, like an update about the team’s focus in the next period.

As an example, I really like what Amir from Doist does.
They don’t have a public roadmap, but he is constantly showing what they are working on without an ETA.

This is more of an approach to give enthusiasm and security to everyone who uses the software.

Also, I don’t like public roadmaps because they create anxiety. Some companies have a public roadmap, and we see that they will work on feature X, but this can take several years to release because they can’t release everything, and some features (like PDF upload support - #30 by ivomota) take a lot of time to be developed.

I think it is more interesting to have a stand-up in the community about what the company is working on right now! The blockers and next steps.

I’m very sorry if my comment sounded like pressure to have a roadmap. It was not my intention at all.

Thank you for your time answering my concerns.

PDF upload support Yes this feature really is in development, we just don’t have an ETA on when it will ready. File storage across 7 different apps (Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android, VR, Web) is pretty complex, esp. with offline and syncing support. And we won’t release something until we’re happy with it.

Supernotes 3.3 Roadmap Hi @ivomota, welcome back!

Shipping and releasing lots of updates doesn’t correlate to the app’s future at all - plenty of apps ship lots and get acquired and shutdown. What does correlate is knowing that both Connor and I love building and using Supernotes every day and it’s owned by us. We’ve run Supernotes as a company for almost 8 years together and have intentionally designed it to be timeless in both it’s form and function. Arguably us always being super responsive in customer support both publicly here on the forum and directly via the in-app messenger is a much better indicator of continued development.

We appreciate the ‘want’ for a public roadmap, but we’ve found that keeping the community forum here as the single source of truth works best; by tagging all the community forum feature requests to see what we’re currently working on as ‘in development’ (Topics tagged in-development) or as ‘confirmed’ etc. and we generally keep these up to date.

Supernotes is a very mature product now, with an extensive feature set – and we’ve found reliability to be more useful that speed of adding features (esp. in the age of AI). Many people depend on us every day. We have internally planned for a bunch of updates throughout this year, and look forward to sharing them with you soon.

Days and planning note cards Posted this to Mastodon then realised it might actually be better here:

Would love a clearer planner view like Agenda in TickTick. I do find that whilst we can move cards to days and the heat map shows that but there is nothing that jumps out at you daily to say, heres todays cards or as the screenshot shows heres the cards across the week. Really would help this thrive to help us plan as well and take notes for knowledge.
