Saskatchewan is entering another construction boom, driven by global demand for its energy, agricultural and mining products. The construction sector is in need of strong advocacy and support to ensure it maximizes the opportunity in front of it, to the mutual benefit of contractors, trades, consultants and suppliers across the province. A united and effective provincial construction association is key to this objective.

The construction association space in Saskatchewan has been decentralized historically, with associations in Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Regina, and Saskatoon. While this facilitated strong networks within the regions and ensured local needs were well represented, it has also been administratively burdensome and expensive. In order to speak with one strong voice, attract and retain new members, and pool resources to achieve the greatest benefits, the leaders of these associations have decided to align themselves into a single, stronger, Provincial association.

Such a change will require consultation, understanding and buy-in from members across the province, as the new structure is determined and created. At the same time, the core services that the construction associations have delivered, separately and as a whole, must continue to be advanced. These include networking, education, resources, communications and advocacy.
