CREATIVE SPACE is an independent multi-award-winning series spotlighting local (Antiguan and Barbudan/Caribbean) art and culture. In 2025, “CREATIVE SPACE #20 OF 2024: ST. JOHN’S, CITY OF STORIES“, one of three stories nominated for a total of two awards at the Caribbean Broadcasting Union’s Caribbean Media Awards, won for Excellence in Media Coverage of Caribbean Arts and Culture (Digital). It was also a nominee for Excellence in Environmental Reporting on Coral Reefs – Digital. In 2023, it won the People’s Choice award at the CMAs for ‘CREATIVE SPACE #19 OF 2022: THE “HEADKERCHIEF”; HERITAGE, FASHION, CELEBRATION, AND RESISTANCE’. In 2021, the two–part CREATIVE SPACE mini-series on marine culture (“CREATIVE SPACE #19 OF 2021 – MARINE CULTURE 1 OF 2: FEAR OF SWIMMING, WITH CHRISTAL CLASHING O’REILLY” & “CREATIVE SPACE #20 OF 2021 – MARINE CULTURE 2 OF 2: FINITE RESOURCES, OCEAN LAW, AND COMMUNITY ACTION, WITH TRICIA LOVELL“) placed third in the OECS clean oceans journalists challenge.

As a brand, CREATIVE SPACE dates back to 2009, published exclusively in LIAT’s inflight magazine. It was revamped in 2018 as a blog series and syndicated as of 2019 on Antiguanice.com. Its publishing partner, as of 2020, is Antigua and Barbuda’s Daily Observer by Newsco. It has its first print run in the digital paper every other Wednesday, with the online extended edition with EXTRAS running here on the Jhohadli blog and full interviews and extras on @Jhohadli – the Antiguan Writer channel – on YouTube.
