Theme and problem statement
Post COVID, our world has opened its arms once more to travelling: to embrace the thrills, uncertainties, adventures of exploring a distant place. We are presented with endless possibilities to broaden our horizons and connect with a diverse range of communities.
But amid the excitement of travelling, we find challenges too. From cancelled flights to realizing your accomodation was catfishing you, and everything in between, there are no limits to the problems you can solve.
So what are you waiting for?
YOUR TASK: CREATE A TECHNICAL SOLUTION TO ADDRESS PROBLEMS OR PROVIDE UTILITY FOR PERSONAL TRAVEL (E.G. COMMUTING, HOLIDAYS)
Examples of projects:
- 'Public transport alert (train ticket inspector warning)'
- 'Find free parking near hotels/bnbs (extension for booking sites)'
- Sky colour predictor for sunsets/sunrise

Judging Criteria
-
Effectiveness
Will the solution bring in quantifiable results? Does it clearly address the key issues in the Hackathon problem statement? -
Strategy
Are resources needed accounted for? Have they identified features that still need to be added to the product? Evaluate consideration of multiple relevant aspects to the solution e.g., technical resources/marketing/timelines etc. -
Viability
How realistic is the solution? Considering the implementation plan/resources needed. Is there a market for the product? -
Originality
How innovative is the idea? Does it show potential? Originality for the sake of being unique/different that isn’t effective/doesn’t show potential shouldn’t be given high marks. -
Presentation
Delivery of ideas during group pitch, quality of answers to judges’ questions (this may reinforce or take away from categories above), general presentation skills. -
Completeness
Does it meet its minimum functional requirements? Are there bugs? Does the project work as intended? -
UI/UX
Does it look and feel good? Does it feel intuitive in its design and layout? Is it easy to use? Is it designed with the target audience in mind?
