I did see that, but there’s so much BS doing the rounds online it’s impossible to tell the difference between reality and fake news…

Apparently that means Iran can/could have reached Paris or London.

So Europe may have been at risk thanks to their complacency for some time. Maybe they’ll end up thanking “Orange Buffoon” for doing the hard thing?

I know , just hoping Europe can save itself from the claws of the US hegemony…

Jared Diamond’s “Collapse” notes there have been two dozen civilizations like ours. All collapsed in messy, uncontrolled disassembly. We’re even higher on the pyramid than any of those. And there’s nowhere for survivors to go.

Indeed…. The Hormuz disaster could easily affect renewable energy production, with shortages of helium and aluminium for starters. But the biggest issue will be food production. And everyone’s freaking out about the price of fuel. Time to take bike riding seriously…

Chortling every day why ‘this would not have happened if everyone just went renewable’.

Not suggesting these folk don’t have compassion for the victims of war, but there’s been nothing like this event to further the pop argument that ‘the world needs to get out of oil’ and push the renewables button.

Unfortunately, hardening of that latter meme further weakens the bigger priority to scale down. That’s barely on anyone’s radar.

Comment on Catabolic Collapse by MARK BEVIS https://damnthematrix.wordpress.com/2026/03/14/catabolic-collapse/#comment-38969 Sat, 14 Mar 2026 16:52:30 +0000 http://damnthematrix.wordpress.com/?p=19079#comment-38969 In reply to mikestasse.

I think of like this:

We are top apex predators. Now all the other apex predators – lions, tigers, orcas, leopards, etc do not have populations above the low millions, if that, probably ever. No one expects there to be 8 billion lions and tigers, so why should we expect 8 billion humans (or whatever large number)? It’s a food pyramid, with apex predators at the top, where the numbers are lowest.

So 3-6 million sounds about right to me. For a sustainable population that is. You can any number of any species you want, but if it’s not sustainable, it ain’t gonna stay that way.
