Protecting client information is a foundational ethical duty of attorneys.

Comment on NZ: High Court grants injunction over ManageMyHealth cyber breach by Nano Banana AI https://databreaches.net/2026/01/05/nz-high-court-grants-injunction-over-managemyhealth-cyber-breach/?pk_campaign=feed&pk_kwd=nz-high-court-grants-injunction-over-managemyhealth-cyber-breach/#comment-12597 Tue, 06 Jan 2026 05:36:24 +0000 https://databreaches.net/?p=125595#comment-12597 While the High Court injunction is a step in the right direction, I can’t help but wonder how effective it will be in stopping the data from spreading beyond New Zealand’s jurisdiction. Unfortunately, once data is leaked online, controlling its distribution is nearly impossible.

Well, thanks for clearing that up. I have not spoken or posted to WIRED. Because I have learned to calm down and think before speaking sometimes. Perhaps, if “professional” from the IRT did the same; they might realize your intent and understand. I come from a background profession where sometimes you have to talk to and form small relationships with people in order to gain info or get things done. (It might have been law enforcement, but I ain’t sayin)! But there were always people ready to accuse you of being bad or “crooked.” Yeah… you often got stabbed in the back. But that was outweighed for me by the info that I could often get and a few times, the crimes that could be prevented. Sometimes, doing good means looking bad. But it does take a heavy emotional toll on you. Very heavy. So keep going, but don’t forget to take care of your mental health. I am still waiting for WIRED or Condé Nast to notify us of their failure. Take care of you!

You started off with good intent. Empathise and respect your transparency thus.

BTW, I was notified by HIPB too.

It wasn’t WIRED or Condé Nast that claimed I was helping a criminal. It was a professional from an incident response firm who responded to a post when I was still seeking a way to reach Condé Nast’s security team.

This is not the first time I have ever been accused of aiding criminals because I investigate what they tell me and report on it or pursue it. It’s disheartening at times, though.

This is the first time I have read of a company simply writing off anyone’s (black hat, grey hat or white hat) attempts to warn or work with them on a vulnerability. Of course you got played. That is part of the job of the whistle-blower. They are always made that bad guy in an attempt to draw attention away from the embarrassed entity’s failure. I’m sorry to say that it comes with the job. The bottom line is THEY GOT HACKED! AND… allowed plenty of time to pass without notifying the public of their exposed data. I also got notified by Have i Been Pwned and was directed here by that site. You did nothing wrong. Keep us posted so that we can help you if needed. I’m off to give wired a piece of my mind.

I haven’t had an open account with Wired in years, and I got the notification from Have I Been Pwned?
