Inspiration
We wanted to do something we have never done before, making a game was one of them. Playing games and making games are a very different experience and we wanted to experience it. We have never used Unity and the best way to learn it was using it for this game. The interface of the game was inspired by Altos Adventure.
What it does
It is based in 2050. In 2050, AI has blurred the line between real and fake. Players skateboard through a city and along the way they encounter misinformation challenges; pick the truth and the path gets easier, fall for the lie and it gets harder. The game uses AI-generated content to teach critical thinking about misinformation in an interactive fun way. It directly addresses the challenge of AI-driven misinformation by making players experience its consequences.
How we built it
It is built in Unity with procedural generated terrain, AI generated misinformation scenarios and physics based skateboarding mechanisms.
Challenges we ran into
We have never used Unity before so the biggest challenge was to find our way through it. The code is written in C# so it did give us some issues. Using git with Unity did give us an issue so version control.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully made a game in Unity under 24 hours and gained new skills.
What we learned
How to use Unity.
What's next for 20 50
Would love to take it one step further and integrate more things like levels in it. Adding different background and modes, obstacles, leaderboards integrated using a database and finally deploying it.
