Inspiration
Seeing the world and experiencing it happens in 3D. In both online websites and offline documents, the world is usually rendered in 2D. For a moving robot recording its surroundings, most approaches simply take multiple pictures - they don't use depth to create a space that humans can better understand in 3D.
There are many needs for this type of 3D mapping visualization - for example robots entering places that humans can't and creating a 3D model of its surroundings.
What it does
As the robot moves, it creates a 3D model of its surroundings and displays it live onto our webapp.
How we built it
build moving robot with sensors connect sensors to arduino link arduino and raspberry pi use pi to send data to the webapp
Challenges we ran into
Getting the robot to move Integrating sensors, arduino, raspberry pi, and websocket communication
What we learned
How to use a pi; how to make a webapp using node, express, and heroku
What's next for 3D-Mapper
more advanced 3D modeling Finer robot tuning additional sensors
Built With
- a-robot
- arduino
- express.js
- heroku
- node.js
- raspberry-pi
- sensors
