Inspiration

All of us want to improve the state of public healthcare for people in the US. We think that it is crucial for people to access information about healthcare a lot easier.

What it does

Our website provides information about public healthcare and hospital locations in proximity to the user's input. We also offer a hub of resources about things like COVID and medicare.

How we built it

First, we found an HTML website template and built our website on one of those. Then, we figured out how to create a chatbot that had a good amount of information about healthcare. After the chatbot, we figured out how to use the Google Maps API so users can input their address or zip code and find hospitals that are close to them. After that, we created a database of hospitals in Austin that takes in Medicare and Medicaid.

Challenges we ran into

One of the challenges we ran into was how to implement a Google Maps API on the website. Implementing the chatbot into the website was also a challenge, as well as finding a way to display the database of hospitals.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of having a relatively complete website in a short amount of time, as well as learning new things such as the implementation of APIs and the use of the Azure programming language.

What we learned

We learned how to work as a team, implement an API, as well as program in the Azure framework.

What's next for Connect2Health

The team hopes to attend another hackathon in the future, and learn even more new things.
