Inspiration

Being college students ourselves we've been through the same experiences that every incoming freshman has and will go through. The confusion and stress that comes along with going to an unknown place and when researching about it only helps to make you more confused is not beneficial to anyones well being. We want to make this transition into a new chapter of your life as smooth and stress free as possible so you can focus on what really important.

What it does

Our application provides a mix of AI experts in several domains related to the college process. Students are able to direct their question to any of these experts and they will be able to provide them with relevant and useful answers.

How we built it

In the web frontend we used tailwindCSS, Next.js, React, and Typescript. In the backend we used MongoDB, Milvus, Websockets, Typescript, and Node.js. All of this was hosting on a Microsoft Azure virtual machine.

Challenges we ran into

Getting started with Azure was a great difficulty and we spent a majority of our time debugging the errors produced by Azure. Another challenge we faced was using Langchain with Typescript; it was a bold move because Langchain is not optimized for Typescript, and we had to deal with a lot of confusing documentation.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to deliver a working full-stack web application using technologies that we we did not know before the hackathon. Another accomplishment that we are proud of is coming with a unique architecture for a natural language interface between high school students and artificial intelligence.

What we learned

  • Microsoft Azure
  • Langchain
  • Vector Databases (Milvus)

What's next for #46 Pathfinders

We plan on integrating this technology into our own college campus in order to assist student in their academic journeys. More specially, we plan on improving the user interface and user experience, fixing minor bugs in the backend, adding 2-way verbal communication, and adding more experts to the application.
