🚀 Inspiration

We were inspired by the reality that most AI tools are not built for African markets. Nigerian businesses — especially SMEs — lack affordable, context-aware automation tools. At the same time, local developers and creators are building amazing AI agents with no real way to monetize or distribute them.

9jaAgents was born to solve both problems: A marketplace for AI agents where businesses can buy or subscribe to agents tailored to Nigerian use cases, and creators can list, sell, and scale their work.

🛠️ How we built it

We built 9jaAgents during the free weekend Bolt Hackathon using:

Bolt for backendless agent logic, workflows, and instant deployment
React.js + Tailwind CSS for the frontend UI
Designed flows for agent monetization, subscription billing, and creator dashboards

Bolt let us build fast, test faster, and focus entirely on features.

🧗 Challenges we ran into

🗣️ Prompting agents to respond naturally in Pidgin and Nigerian English
🔁 Creating a smooth buy / subscribe / within 48 hours
💡 Designing an interface that works for both non-technical SMEs and technical creators
💳 Building monetization models (subscription, one-time purchase) and creator incentives
⏱️ Working under extreme time pressure to go from idea to prototype over a weekend
