Inspiration

Our inspiration was that when we are doing chores, homework or other activities we wanted a curated playlist that would be the right energy and vibe for the things we were doing.

What it does

Our web app will grab your Spotify account information and use the data from Spotify API to curate a playlist using your genres and making it specific to the activity you are doing for example an upbeat Pop playlist for when you run.

How we built it

We built the web app using a framework called Flask which uses python to run Html, Css and Javascript.

Challenges we ran into

A challenge that we ran into very quickly was that we originally were gonna use another framework called KivyMD but we quickly ran into issues because the docs were hard to read and it wasn't doing what we wanted to, another challenge we faced was dealing with the Spotify API which was difficult using since it was our first time using it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the fact that we were able to turn the project around quickly when KivyMD failed and manage to get a prototype ready for the deadline.

What we learned

We have learned how to use Flask and most importantly the Spotify API which was a new endeavor for us. We also learned how to work cooperatively on a project that is very tight knit.

What's next for Activify

The things we want next for Activify is to improve the playlist making algorithm to better suit the user and make the sign in process easier with Spotify. We also want to add productivity reports that would give users a report telling them about their listening habits to the activity they are doing.
