Inspiration

Approximately 153 million children throughout the globe do not have a parent (UNICEF).
Around the globe, malnutrition affects 69 million children (World Bank).
A staggering 263 million children and youth are not in school (UNESCO). Having a family would greatly improve the quality of life for all of these children.

Our mission is to spread awareness about the benefits of adoption and to support LGBT families so that everyone has the chance to have a loving home environment.

How we built it

We have built site using Velo by Wix.

With the help of wix-animation, we were able to demonstrate a seamless transition between pages.
Using the wix-ecom-backend, we created a web shop selling items for new parents.
Using the wix-forum-backend, we've built a blog where users may post and comment on entries.
Implemented wix-http-functions for use in managing kids' content.
Wix-realtime was used to set up the chitchat feature.
wix-storage was used to save information and pictures of the kid.
wix-stores was used to manage store and cart

Challenges we ran into

Wix only allows JS code for the backend, so we had to fight a little to get it working.
Wix's image storage was a little complicated since the blob and key-value pair features used the same API.
It took me a while to get used to calling the http trigger function from the outside.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Thanks to Wix, we finished the project within timeline; we put up a completely working shop in only two days, and now a new happy family will be formed.

What we learned

We learned about vairuios api of wix to build stuning website in less time, speificaly we lerned about wix-stores, wix-storage, wix-realtime, wix-http-functions, wix-forum-backend, wix-ecom, wix-animation.

What's next for Adoptisity

In addition to the wide variety of national legislation, fewer adopters in poorer regions are likely to take use of online resources that streamline the legally binding adoption of children and provide for their ongoing care and education.
