AfforDEable

Inspiration

Our main inspiration for AfforDEable was the need for a hub for all things charity. We intended to bridge the gap to make it easier for Delaware residents to find and host local charity events

What it does

AfforDEable serves as an event information website. Users can create events, called "DEvents," and get all the information they need about charity happening in their area.

How we built it

We built AfforDEable using a Python back end and a JavaScript front end. We used Flask, React, and Bootstrap to make the process easier.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge we ran into through our development of AfforDEable was linking a database to front end.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to fully create a web app that can grow, even after HenHacks.

What we learned

We learned a lot about SQL, gathering user inputs and displaying our user data in each event card.

What's next for AfforDEable

AfforDEable has plenty in store. We plan on adding a user base, profile pages, messaging, and more!

I worked on the front-end using react and back-end using java. It was my first time using react and combining it with java to create a website. It was a good experience as we used the languages to create a solution to a real-world problem.
