Inspiration
We were inspired to create an app about aerospace engineering due to our curiosity and our interest in airplanes and how all the mechanics, the dynamics of airplanes, what type of coding language is involved, and the process of designing a plane.
What it does
This app helps people learn the fundamentals of Aerospace Engineering. We want to educate people on this unique field, where they can learn how planes are designed and how they function.
How we built it
We built this app using Code.org that uses the coding language JavaScript on App Lab creating the many screens involved in this app such as the information in the different topics we’ve included and quizzes that come with the information too.
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges we ran into while designing and coding this app is how we had to find the information on some of the topics, and once we had found one it barely had information on a certain topic we needed. We also struggled with navigating the different screens and coding which buttons were wrong and right, since we would forget which choice in the question would be correct.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Overall we were proud of the complete design and the many questions we added for each quiz and how much new information we have learned on aerospace engineering.
What we learned
We learned many aspects of aerospace engineering from the aerodynamics involved, the process of designing an airplane, the coding language that is involved and how combustion works in plane engines.
What's next for The Realm of Engineering
What my group and I plan to do next on “The Realm of Engineering” is to probably add more topics to the app, add a unit test that summarizes all the topics the user learns in our app, possibly add a minigame involving the topics included in the app, and a gallery of different types of airplanes with a brief description of its size, the capabilities, the capacity, and speed.
