Inspiration

The inspiration behind Airproof stems from the urgent need to address air pollution's detrimental effects on public health and the environment. We aimed to create an accessible, transparent, and scalable solution to monitor air quality and empower communities to take informed action.

What it does

Airproof is a compact, plug-and-play air quality monitoring system that utilizes Arduino, sensors, and blockchain technology to track pollutants and provide real-time data through a frontend website. It offers transparent insights into air quality conditions, starting with Newark and with plans for global expansion.

How we built it

We built Airproof by integrating hardware components such as the MQ135 and MHMQ7 sensors, an LCD display, and a protective enclosure. Complemented by software tools including blockchain technology, a large language model, Python, and Arduino, we developed a robust monitoring system.

Challenges we ran into

We encountered challenges in implementing blockchain systems, updating metadata for language models, and resolving hardware compatibility issues. These obstacles required perseverance and innovative solutions to overcome.
