Inspiration

Loneliness sounds like such an easy thing to fix: find a friend, reach out to someone who cares, go out on dates. However, with commitments to University and misaligned schedules, it becomes hard to find time to meet with friends, let alone find your soulmate. The abrasion of time erodes the chains of friendship and love and 'dying alone' slowly begins to feel more like a reality than a fear. From this perpetual fear stems our solution 'AlloDate +', a dating app that finds when University schedules align so that your stars can too!

What it does

AlloDate+ is your personal university MATCHMAKER that lives right in the systems of your device. It takes your allocate+ schedule and automates the process of finding a match with the same free schedule block as you. <3

How we built it

As a team, we delegated and allocated task to work towards our united goal. Using cutting-edge technology to develop an searching algorithm, we were able to retrieve and compare the free schedule availabilities from the allocation schedule data across different students.

Employing the React framework, we seamlessly integrated a sophisticated calendar system into our project. This integration served as a pivotal tool, enabling us to harness the wealth of newly acquired free availability data. With precision and finesse, we utilized this data to craft visually compelling displays, offering stakeholders a clear and intuitive insight into our findings. Furthermore, we utilised the tools withtin Tailwind CSS to refine the aesthetics and user experience of our application. Tailwind's utility-first approach allowed us to rapidly iterate on design elements, achieving a polished and professional interface that resonated with our target audience.

Challenges we ran into

Navigating around disagreements between members, when conflicts arises, its often difficult to dicipher which solution is correct to follow, and it can ultimately negatively impact either party. As a result, we were able to come to a compromise to how we would program and approach specific problems and come to a harmious resolution.

Additionally, there were some technical troubles. We had to learn new skills to deal with these issues. This was challenging within the short amount of time allocated to the hackathon.

What we learned

Working as a team taught us the essence of collaboration and effective communication. We learned to leverage each other's strengths, delegate tasks efficiently, and foster an environment of mutual support and encouragement. Navigating through conflicts and challenges became an integral part of our growth, as we embraced constructive dialogue and compromise to reach resolutions.

Through meticulous study of documentation, we unlocked the full potential of our tools, honing our problem-solving abilities and resourcefulness. These tools included react, flask, etc.

What's next for AlloDate+

AlloDate+ is looking to advance the specificality of your matches by implementing more sophisticated matchmaking algorithms, such as potentially implementing MBTI, horoscopes, etc. Additionally, we are looking to add a database of profiles, so that we can compare the schedules of multiple people at once and find the most compatible person for you. These improvements increases our users chances of meeting a soulmate with an aligning schedule.
