Inspiration
We are visionaries who have professional interest in blockchain technology. As a team, we felt a platform that could secure sensitive information in a reliable way - without compromising personal identifiable information(PII), would provide an advanced solution to the rampant and costly cyber security problems faced globally.
What it does
The current system is focused to illustrate a medical use case scenario, though the authentication technology has near limitless applications. We have developed portals for both patients and physicians. The patient can encrypt their medical record for review, and the physician can pull the patient's medical record and confirm their identity. The data is encrypted and transferred to a blockchain which provides a record of all patient and provider uses while maintaining anonymity.
How we built it
We used PHP and Laravel for the development of the software. The blockchain was manually built to service the medical perspective of the platform. All of the data on the platform is within regulatory compliance standards, following HL7 format.
Challenges we ran into
PHP is limited in its ability to manipulate current blockchain technology. We had to patch our data in segments in order to produce the final version of the platform.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our ability to come together as a team and work effectively in a constrained timeline continues to impress us. We were able to draw upon the diverse backgrounds and specialties of our group members to implement a solid technology solution in a short amount of time. Our consistent and focused effort to learn from each other, while maintaining concentration on the task at hand, allowed us to complete the challenge to the best of our ability and enjoy the journey along the way!
What we learned
We learned valuable lessons in teamwork and creating deliverable products in a rapid pace environment. We also learned how to innovate based on closed quarter structures and condensed time frames, in addition to utilizing existing platforms and databases to created cutting edge processes and services.
What's next for Alphatek
As a team, we have plans for expanding our platform for broader utilization and seeking partnerships for incorporation of our system for use within the local, continental, and international community. We plan on using the latest in encryption, anonymization, and blockain technology to deliver an avante guarde product. The use of the latest technology paired with smart contracts will create a fully transparent, hyper-secure, end to end authentication product that creates unbreachable records due to the nature of the blockchain technology.
