Inspiration

Animal learning party was inspired by kids and the world around us. We are surrounded by so many types of animals each and everyday, yet why do we know so little about them? Animals are a crucial part of the ecosystem and environment. Each day we put more and more animals in danger by not protecting the environment and not meeting their needs. The first step to saving these animals is to learn about them.

What it does

We teach all about animals. From their diets to their distinct traits, we are the one stop animal learning shop. We make information about animals easily available in interesting means, such as cards with information or quizzes about knowledge.

How we built it

This website was built using the Qoom beta testing feature for collaboration and replit. Our tech stack is JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. We got data from an Animals API from API ninja.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into challenges with Qoom collaboration, as it is still in beta testing, but thankfully we were able to work around that and move to replit. All of us have very limited to no experience using JavaScript, CSS, and HTML so it was a challenge to learn 3 new languages in order to complete this web dev project.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of creating this website to help people learn about animals. Many of us having no prior experience in JavaScript, CSS, and HTML we are proud to have learned a lot and created a functioning website. We are proud of combining our previous coding experience with these new languages to create an expandable dynamic website experience.

What we learned

We learned a lot about JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. We learned how to create a HTML front end with multiple pages, connect it to a JS backend, and style it with CSS. Notable accomplishments include getting the quiz and cards to be created using data pulled from the Animals API and not manually entered, as well as styling done for the Hey and Do you like animals?
