Inspiration
History is often perceived as a dull and memory-heavy subject by many students. However, anime as a medium is globally loved for its storytelling, visuals, and emotional connection with characters. Anime Historia was born from the idea of blending these two worlds — to make learning history engaging, personalized, and unforgettable using anime characters.
What it does
Anime Historia is an educational web application that uses popular anime characters as digital mentors to teach historical events, timelines, and concepts. The platform presents history lessons as animated, voice-driven narratives using:
AI-generated anime avatars
Voice synthesis for character narration
Interactive storytelling for historical topics
Gamified quizzes and vocabulary learning Users can choose their favorite anime guide (e.g., a warrior from Naruto, a scientist-type from Dr. Stone, etc.) to explore various history chapters, making education more immersive and enjoyable
How we built it
Frontend: React.js with Tailwind CSS for UI
Backend: Node.js with Express for APIs
Text-to-Speech & Avatar Animation: Integrated using ElevenLabs API and D-ID for animated talking avatars
Database: MongoDB to store user progress and content
NLP & Vocabulary Extraction: Python scripts using spaCy and NLTK
Gamification Logic: Custom JavaScript for scoring, leveling, and achievement unlocks
