Inspiration
As a group of first-year students, we found that meeting new friends was almost impossible, we thought it would be a good idea to design and implement a solution for the problem.
What it does
We created an AI that would learn to match people with other students numerical data based on their major, identical classes, common interests and clubs and even social medias.
How we built it
We built the AI using logistic regression. We manually trained the AI using our generated data set and based on our intuition, we grouped pairs of people who would make good friends. We recreated our university class portal in order to visualize what the program would look like on pygame.
Challenges we ran into
Some of the challenges we ran into were, animating dropdown menus in our User Interface, training our AI, getting GitHub to work, and most importantly understanding and implementing the inner workings of our AI.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This is our first ever Hackathon and we are proud of our teamwork and our work ethic throughout the 24 hour event. Choosing our topic and deciding on a idea that we were all in agreeance on was a big part of our teamwork. Although we are all tired from the sleepless effort, we are all proud of the final product that we created.
What we learned
We learned programming practices based on machine learning and artificial intelligence. This was our first time tackling a big project like this one, and we learned how to work in different parts of our project.
What's next for AntiAntiSocial
We feel that this project could be implemented to most online university portals, especially during a time where everybody is indoors.
