Inspiration
Failure was the inspiration for our team. A majority of teammates didn't get their dream internship/job but still wanted to practice and develop their skills while making money. Thus, we came up with a website that allowed computer based undergrads to make money off their skills.
What it does
The website allows companies to post short-term projects that have a max criteria of 3 problems that require solutions to complete the project. The freelancer's perspective views a list of projects to choose from and picks a problem from one particular project they can work on. The company gets a notification of freelancers and their quotes, then they enter a business contract off the website. Connections, time, and money all done within minutes!
How we built it
The website was made mostly with HTML for the main webpages, along with CSS for the formatting to make it look nice. Javascript and Boostrap was used for better interaction. The database was implemented using Firebase API.
Challenges we ran into
Time. Time. Time. Fortunately, we didn't have any performance issues since it was a web application.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We didn't have much experience to begin with in web development, everyone in our team was a beginner in their own way but we were able to get quite a lot done within the time given to us.
What we learned
Having some plan or idea on the project ahead of time can help. Along with that, we have to choose a project based on our what we are strongest at.
What's next for AnyLance
If we are to be placed top 5 in the hackathon, we will continue to expand the website and make this as a startup.
