The inspiration behind Aqua Pro stemmed from the urgent need to address water scarcity issues and promote sustainable water management practices. Our team recognized the critical role that technology could play in empowering individuals to track and manage their water consumption effectively.
What it does
Aqua Pro is an innovative water management solution that leverages AI technology and user-friendly tools to enable users to monitor and reduce their water footprint. The platform consists of a dashboard web app and a browser extension, providing seamless tracking of water usage across various online platforms. Users can set conservation goals, receive personalized recommendations, and make informed decisions about their water consumption habits.
How we built it
Aqua Pro was built using a combination of cutting-edge technologies, including NextJS for frontend development, Supabase for backend data management, AWS for hosting, and OpenAI API for AI-powered analysis. The development process involved overcoming challenges such as integrating Supabase Google Auth with the Chrome Extension and optimizing the performance of the browser extension. Despite these challenges, the team successfully created a functioning prototype with a beautiful UI and robust backend infrastructure.
Challenges we ran into
Throughout the development process, we encountered several challenges that tested our problem-solving skills and perseverance. These challenges included issues with Chrome extension hot reloading, limited resources for integrating Supabase Google Auth, and debugging with Vite as the bundling engine. Despite these obstacles, we remained committed to our vision and found creative solutions to overcome them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have achieved several milestones during the development of Aqua Pro. Our accomplishments include creating a beautiful UI, developing a functioning prototype, and successfully integrating Supabase into the Chrome Extension. Additionally, our emphasis on sustainability aligns with our vision of leveraging technology for public good, contributing to a more water-conscious society.
What we learned
The development of Aqua Pro provided valuable insights into various aspects of software development, including integrating SGID into a NextJS CSR web app, setting up Supabase on a Chrome Extension, and implementing functional charts with Chart.js. These learnings will inform future iterations of the platform and enhance its effectiveness.
What's next for Aqua Pro
Moving forward, Aqua Pro aims to expand its support for other major online marketplaces, implement a reward system for user engagement, and adopt a SaaS pricing model. These enhancements will further incentivize water conservation efforts and drive positive environmental impact. Additionally, we plan to continue refining the platform based on user feedback and emerging technologies to ensure its continued relevance and effectiveness in promoting water sustainability.
