Inspiration
Archaeologists and history enthusiasts often struggle with organizing and documenting findings in the field. We wanted to create a simple, digital solution that makes recording discoveries easier and more efficient.
What it does
ArchFinds allows users to log archaeological findings with key details like name, location, and description. Each entry is linked to the user’s account and stored in their dashboard. Voice commands make hands-free recording possible, helping users document findings quickly and accurately.
How we built it
We developed ArchFinds using a web-based platform with a user-friendly interface. The backend handles data storage and user authentication, while the frontend ensures seamless interaction. We also integrated voice recognition for hands-free entry.
Challenges we ran into
- Implementing a smooth and reliable voice command feature.
- Ensuring a clean and intuitive UI for easy data entry.
- Managing data storage efficiently while keeping entries organized.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Successfully integrating a dashboard for users to access their records.
- Implementing voice commands to simplify data entry.
- Creating an intuitive interface that makes documentation quick and efficient.
What we learned
- The importance of user-friendly design for field applications.
- How to integrate voice recognition for hands-free functionality.
- Best practices for storing and managing user-generated data.
What's next for ArchFinds
- Adding image uploads to attach photos of findings.
- Implementing a map feature to visualize discovery locations.
- Enhancing collaboration by allowing users to share findings with others.
