In 2000, at the inaugural Laureus World Sports Awards, our Founding Patron, Nelson Mandela, declared: "Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand.

Take the Olympics. In addition to welcoming the world’s best athletes, the international sporting event has hosted boycotts and symbolic protests. Sports have played an important role in the fight for civil and political rights.

African-American sprint star Jesse Owens won four gold medals at Hitler’s Berlin Games, disproving the Nazi theory of Aryan racial superiority. LINK LINK

Christmas Truce of 1914, World War I - For Sharing, For Peace. While tending to the dead and wounded one Christmas night during World War I, opposing teams played football rather than kill each other.

The International Olympic Committee created the "Refugee Olympic Team" to enable athletes from the world’s 68.5 million displaced people to compete in the 2016 Olympics and draw attention to their plight. LINK

The Olympic delegations from both North and South Korea participated in the opening and closing ceremonies together and played in unity under the Korean Unification Flag. LINK

Sports don’t just reflect culture and economics. They also can transcend cultural differences, influence international relations and shape society.

What it does

To make it more comprehensible, here we come with Atheleaton. As the name suggests, we aim to make hackathons for athletes. So no matter who you are, an amateur or a professional athlete, our unique platform would allow you to sign up for a hackathon in your locality. But wait, is that all? No, our main idea is to team up with players on a random basis irrespective of their background, culture, experience, ethnicity, race & gender. Just the way it was done in Hacks for Humanity hackathon. This activity has proven to encourage the qualities of compassion, empathy, respect & kindness among the people who participate in such hackathons, the proof of concept was confirmed itself during the Hack for Humanity hackathon. When we people from four different time zones came together having no idea of what to do, but vision and passion to create something beneficial for humanity, we ended up becoming a team to create ideation of this unique platform. We urge you to give us a chance to make this idea turn into reality, cause that’s what hacks for humanity are all about.
