Purpose

We seek to improve the quality of life in homes without air-conditioning while maintaining a low energy footprint.

Features

3 motorized foam shutters LCD Display Room Temperature Reader LCD display changes color in relation to current room temperature

Demo

For our demonstration today, we won't be displaying the device exactly as we envision. Given the limited options with which to build our device, we are showing a simplified version of our shutter system. The option for the user to change the temperature to their desired state remains, but since we can't actively change the room's temperature, we'll be using a switch to actively modify the "room temperature" to effectively convey the intended use of our device. The display screen here shows both the real room temperature detected by the digital thermometer, and the simulated "room temperature". The simulated temperature is limited from 50 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The goal of the project is to maintain a comfortable temperature between 60-80. If the temperature is detected to increase past 80, the shutters are opened to allow air flow. The opposite case is the shutters open at 60 to prevent warm air from escaping.

Future

Updated color display, solar-powered, modular design to enable fast switches between slat themes (different colors/materials, etc), S/M/L sizes with user-frendly width/height features for small adjustments
