Inspiration

Safety First and Last Always! There are many special shipments (ex: dangerous goods, pharmaceutical, live animals) that cargo facilities transport which require accurate information on the booking and on the physical shipment. This information includes right label(s), UN#, shipper and consignee name and address, etc. These verifications MUST be done in order to make sure the shipment is ready for carriage.

The time consuming verification, human prone errors and the passion for digital solutions are contributing factors to our inspirations for this idea.

What it does

Our solution is called AVATOA, a ONE RECORD based solution and a platform where the information from the shipper/customer is auto- verified at the booking level to the arrival at a cargo facility with just one click of a picture. This imaging solution verifies text and labels from the picture to cross verify against the digital information upon acceptance to make it ready for carriage.

How we built it

  • The web application is developed in Visual Studio providing a user-friendly interface. It incorporates the powerful functionalities of C# .NET Core, enabling robust and efficient application development.
  • Leveraging the Azure App service for deployment ensures scalability, reliability, and easy management of the web application. It takes advantage of Azure's cloud infrastructure to provide seamless access to users from anywhere.
  • The integration of IronOcr, a popular OCR (Optical Character Recognition) library, it empowers the web application with barcode scanning and image processing capabilities for shipment labels. This feature allows for automated data extraction from labels, enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of processing shipments.

  • Had to switch from native IOS app to HTML web app
