Avec Ma

Inspiration

We created Avec Ma to support moms who are struggling with financial stress, uncertainty, or lack of guidance. As college students, we relate to the struggles of experiencing life for the first time, and our team realized how much harder it can be for young, first-time, and/or single mothers. Finding resources, help, and a guide is really hard. That is why we created Avec Ma to support mothers by providing immediate resources, a mood tracker, a financial tracker, and an AI-powered chatbot that acts like a guide for any problem, hoping it would be some relief to mothers out there.

What it does

We made a web application with different tabs providing different services. Our Chat provides resources and answers any questions mothers would have. Then our calendar helps them keep organized, and the mood trackers to track lifestyle, and an interactive financial tracker to easily manage finances.

How we built it

We built this web application using Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and PostCSS. We also used multiple UI elements such as shadecn/ui and Lucide Icons. In addition, to power our chatbot, we used Google Gemini AI, and for our charts, we used Recharts.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenge we ran into during the hackathon was finding a problem and creating something that wasn't out there. We had many brainstorming sessions and had to change our ideas multiple times, given our short time frame, which became challenging for us.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to build this web application that can help many young mothers out there. Furthermore, we are proud of how our UI turned out as we put a lot of effort into making it as aesthetic and appealing as we could.

What we learned

We learnt how to work in a team, how to problem solve in a time crunch, and many technical skills. We learnt a lot about front-end and UI related tools such as Tailwind. We also learnt how to set up a login system, etc.

What's next for Avec Ma

For Avec Ma, we want to build a more sophisticated yet simple financial tracker in the future, and in addition, establish a forum for young moms within this web application so that everyone can share information. We hope to create a safe environment for many young mothers out there through this web application.
