Inspiration 🧠

Our inspiration for Axon was from our own curiosity to learn new skills in the world. We wanted something that could help us with our self study and provide us clear and personalised learning experience.

What it does 🏷️

Axon takes in what skill you want to study, a goal you have with that skill, the type of learner you are and your base level knowledge in that skill and creates you a full 30 day roadmap for you to to reach your goal. For example, say you want to learn how to bake something to impress your friends at a dinner party and you already have a little experience in the kitchen, Axon will take these values and use OpenAI's GPT to create a full roadmap you can follow.

How we built it 🔨

In terms of front end we used the React framework. Alongside with a little help from Vercel and Shadcn, we were able to successfully implement the UI designs we made in Figma. In terms of backend we used Typescipt, LangFlow and MongoDB.

As a team we all split up different tasks to each other based on their strengths and we worked together in parallel using GitHub and Discord and we came together in the end to collate and implement everything.

Challenges we ran into 💥

We had 3 major challenges that we ran into while developing that we had to overcome:

  1. We had a really good idea but we needed to lower the scope in order for it to be feasible in the time frame given, we found creative ways to lower the scope.
  2. There was some disparities between skill levels of our members which was hard to coordinate at first but once we found everyones strengths progress was smooth.
  3. We struggled a bit with time management, which was touched on in the previous parts but we pivoted quickly when we couldn't finish certain parts and found ways to make up for it and in the end we pulled through.

Accomplishments that we're proud of 🏅

We had 3 major accomplishments that we are proud of:

  1. We actually had working and completed code! It's a bare minimum but its good to have something to show.
  2. We had good team chemistry and we all worked together without any butting of heads.
  3. We believe that the idea we came up with is something that we would actually use, and due to this we are proud of what we made; we believe we came up with a good idea.

What we learned 👨🏽‍🏫

Although we learnt a lot of cool technical skills we mainly learnt how to delegate tasks and work together on a team together as it was most of our members first hackathons. Going on into the future we can all see ourselves participating in more hackathons it was a really rewarding experience.

What's next for AXON Learning 🔮

Moving on into the future we will be implementing a social aspect into learning skills. We love to share with our friends and families the new things we are working on and Axon will have an easy way to do so. With leaderboards to see which one of your friends is on track.

From a business standpoint, we will have the feature to add multiple skills and also continue learning after the 30 days are finished under our AxonPro paid plans. Allowing users to learn multiple skills in parallel and continue their learning journey after 30 days.

Finally the things that we are most excited about, there’s plenty of roadmap/skill tree apps out there but what separates us is our work in progress ReGen technology. Our plan is to have daily reviews of your progress on how you are going, found today a bit too hard or were the resources given a bit too boring let Axon know and it will adjust your lesson plans of the days coming to suit your preferences. A fully customised dynamic learning experience.
