INSPIRATION
Potential Golden Indonesian Vision 2045
Based on the Indonesia Population Projection 2015-2045 report, 207.99 million people out of 318.96 million people in Indonesia as a whole, are people of productive age (15-64 years) which characterizes the emergence of demographic bonus. With this number, Indonesia will potentially reach its golden age in 2045, where Indonesia will become a developed country and become one of the world's leading economic powers that has a strategic role in global geopolitics, as the country will have more potential labor force that can increase production and overall economic contribution.
Problems in the City
However, young people as part of the productive age population exhibit moral degradation phenomena, such as brawls, drug abuse, and sexual exploitation and perversion. This reality can be seen in various big cities such as Jakarta, Bandung, and Surabaya. What really concerns us are the cases of violence between young people that occur near our area of study, at the University of Education Indonesia, Purwakarta campus. In the past year alone, there have been many cases of brawls between students, such as the brawl between SMK Bina Taruna and SMK YKS in Purwakarta Regency, to acts of theft with violence or persecution also committed by young people who are still students.
Problems in the Village
It is different with the phenomenon of young people in the village. In our introductory education course last semester, we conducted research in two villages in Purwakarta Regency, namely Sukasari village and Tegalwaru village. The results of our observations show that the majority of young people in these villages do not have aspirations after high school. Most of them decide to get married, and work odd jobs to earn an income.
The idea that we want to offer
We realized that the education gap and unproductive environment were the main reasons behind these problems. So we began to imagine. What if there is a platform that can accommodate the process of achieving the dreams of young people in Indonesia? Where the platform can provide specific steps that can be followed by young people, both in cities and villages, in order to achieve their dreams, and get the opportunity to work in companies that match their dreams. So, when the Garuda Hacks competition was held, we agreed to try to realize the idea that came from our concerns as students in Purwakarta, so Azpira was created. Azpira was created as a website on mobile phones because it adapts to the characteristics of users, so Azpira can be used concisely and easily without the need to do other additional installations. Azpira also provides a community feature, where users (young people) can interact, socialize, and learn from each other, so that this will ensure the creation of a productive and inclusive learning ecosystem, for all young people, both in cities and villages.
WHAT IT DOES
Functionality
The Azpira website provides two main functionalities. First, users will be given specific recommendations of steps by AI that must be taken to achieve the goals inputted by the user. The recommendations given will differ according to the goal data inputted. If the user does not yet have a goal, the AI will help the user to determine their goal with the chitchat function. In some recommendation steps, users will be challenged by doing evaluation tests to test the user's understanding by emphasizing imagination, creativity, and critical thinking.
The second functionality is a community feature that allows users to interact with each other, share information about their goals, and learn from each other. This feature was created in consideration of the fact that a poor and unproductive environment is a major factor that creates many other problems. With this feature, users who are urban and rural children can feel motivated and have a role model to look up to and follow.
Benefit & Problem Solving
With these two functionalities, Azpira can help young people who have been confused and don't know about their dreams, to be able to find and then realize their dreams, as well as the opportunity to get friends and the opportunity to get a job, so Azpira can help overcome the problems of moral degradation, to unemployment, and increase the potential for achieving the golden Indonesia 2045.
HOW WE BUILT IT
Basically we build websites with javascript language and react framework to create responsive and adaptive websites and also to customize the functionality needs that we will provide on the Azpira website. We also use the OpenAI API in website development. Express.js is used for the back-end development of the website. We also use PostgreSQL to fulfill the database needs of the Azpira website.
CHALLENGES WE RAN INTO
We created a solution with a complex system, so with limited time in the development process, it was quite an adrenaline-fueled challenge.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS THAT WE'RE PROUD OF
We were able to formulate and identify systemic problems that occur among young people in Indonesia, and then present features on Azpira that can serve to help solve these systemic problems.
WHAT WE LEARNED
We learned that in creating a digital product, it is necessary to conduct market segment research to find out the target user and understand what he needs, so that the product design can be an effective and efficient solution in helping users to solve problems.
