Inspiration

I spend too much time on social medias and I have the bad habits on reading only the title of shared articles, but not the content. When you finally read the content of the news, you realize the title was misleading, only told one part of the story or left an important detail out. These titles spread misinformation!

What it does

BaitBlock will replace the titles by community sourced ones. It will look for headlines in the sites you visit and query a central database to get more informatives titles. The community can send and vote their own suggestions.

How I built it

This is build as a Chrome extension, with a backend API storing the data.

There is so much that can be added to improve journalism and fight misinformation:

• Show a summary of the article
• Show the sources of an article and rank their quality
• Show other articles with different point of view
