Inspiration

Nearly 26% of Americans have no savings. We all know that feeling of regret after spending money when we didn't need to in the first place. We want to incentivize people to save their money.

What it does

Bank tracks your spending and allows you to categorize your expenditures. If you realize that you spend money at somewhere that you shouldn't have, next time you're there, Bank will take that amount out of your checking (if you can afford it, of course), and move that sum to your savings account.

How we built it

We integrated Capital One's Nessie API into Android Studio to develop a mobile app. We also designed a promotional webpage using HTML and CSS.

Challenges we ran into

This was our first experience using Android Studio and we were unfamiliar with creating a mobile application. We experiences technical difficulties with the Wi-fi to install software as well as difficulties in transferring data to the mobile device. We also had issues with creating multiple activity views, tabs, and the general front-end features of our application.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We think we have an innovative idea and we have developed most of the backend features of our application which we will hopefully be able to integrate into our application once we get the front-end features finished.

What we learned

In addition to learning about Android Studio, we learned about the challenges of designing a mobile application and integrating an API.
