Inspiration

Food Waste and World Hunger Food waste is a significant global issue, with perfectly edible food discarded while millions face hunger. BaoBank addresses this disparity by creating a seamless food redistribution network. We connect businesses and individuals with surplus food to those in need, promoting sustainability and social responsibility. By tackling food waste, BaoBank contributes to a more equitable and food-secure community.

What it does

BaoBank tackles food waste and hunger by creating a food redistribution network. Here's how it works:

Connects donors and recipients: BaoBank allows businesses and individuals with surplus food (donors) to connect with those in need (recipients).
Reduces food waste: By redirecting edible food instead of throwing it away, BaoBank promotes sustainability. -Combats hunger: BaoBank ensures that good food gets to those who need it most, contributing to a food-secure community.

How we built it

We build it using Nexjts and ShadCN, Postgres(Supabase) as our database, and Vercel for hosting

Challenges we ran into

Lots of our teammates were new to front-end development and database engineering. The biggest challenge was to make sure they learned along the way while preventing them from learning bad habits

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our teammates were able to learn and produce an incredible app, they used what they learned along the way in the best way possible and we are proud of our team.

What's next for BaoBank

We need to connect with Australian Foodbanks to get more data, improve the web app to align more with our vision and promote our app to the government for visibility and investments.
