Inspiration
We wanted to make a short comedy game that would be fairly memorable due to its uniqueness as well as keeping it fairly engaging. We wanted the player to encounter different situations and have complete freedom in how they approached it. Bartending came to us because we figured it would be a place where everyone could let out how they were feeling and express themselves more comedically. It's alcohol, after all.
What it does
As a player, you can create cocktails from a blend of 6 original drinks, each with their own unique properties. Serve these creations to your customers, who each come with a different request. Experiment with your customers' tastes to try and earn the most tips in one night and experiment with your customers' tastes.
How we built it
Art and animation were hand-drawn by our animator, while the game was built in Unity.
Challenges we ran into
It was hard to design the game to begin with as we were unaware of the scope of the game at the start. We often had to completely change our requirements in order to adapt to the fast-approaching deadline.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The relationship between the dialogue, drinks, and animations was very difficult to accomplish as they were three different systems. Being able to create tools that allowed our developers to create content without code was very important.
What we learned
Game making is fun.
What's next for Bartending Madness
Absolutely no idea.
