Inspiration

We were seeking to address how student collaboration is rarely measured and made aware to the teachers. In addition, we wanted to make a solution which helps student progress by providing more power and reach to the teachers to help and understand their students.

What it does

After every group activity, students rate each-other for their collaboration qualities such as: Leadership, Listening, etc. This data is then presented to the teacher in a way that allows the teacher to view and assess their students in different qualities. The teacher can assign groups and corresponding qualities in order to learn new things about each student and how they work with others.

How we built it

We used a python library: ttkbootstrap, to build the frontend, while also coding the backend in python as well. For handling the data, we used json files and set up a mock API with a git server for handling basic api requests such as post, patch and get.

Challenges we ran into

Challenges included learning a new library, setting up the database, and most importantly: Coordinating the design and the development to build the prototype.

Other challenges for some of the team included balancing the hackathon with their day jobs, and participating in their first hackathon.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

That we delivered a fully functioning prototype, finished designs, as well as a fully planned out solution.

What we learned

In coming up and building the solution, we learned the value of efficiency in relation to time and progress/development. As well as the importance of having meetings every so often to hash out details and ensure everyone is on the same page.

What's next for BeeKeep

Possibly expanding to companies and schools of all education levels. As well as increasing the data collected for more insightful capabilities.
