Inspiration
University life is buzzing with opportunities, but students often miss out because event info gets buried in emails or scattered across chat groups. We wanted to create a fun, engaging way to centralize everything, so students can easily “bee in the know” and stay connected.
What it does
BeeTogether unifies campus events, announcements, and opportunities into one playful platform. Students can explore a unified calendar, get personalized buzz notifications, read a student announcements feed, bookmark events, and even navigate to venues via an interactive campus map, all guided by cute bee mascots.
Challenges we ran into
Aggregating events from scattered sources (emails, CCAs, Telegram groups) Designing a mascot + UI that is fun but not overwhelming Balancing cute interactions with serious functionality Time management—scoping what features to demo in hackathon constraints
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built a working prototype with calendar, announcements, and notifications Designed a memorable bee mascot that makes the app fun and approachable Created a solution that judges and students could immediately imagine using Turned a common problem (missed events) into a playful, community-focused solution
What we learned
How to integrate multiple event sources into one streamlined platform The importance of delightful UI/UX in boosting student engagement That adding small playful details (puns, mascots, animations) makes a huge difference Collaboration and scoping are key in hackathon builds
What's next for BeeTogether
Expand event integrations (auto-scanning emails, Telegram/Discord bots) Add gamification (collect honey drops for attending events, unlock perks) Partner with clubs & faculties for verified posting access Launch a pilot on campus to test engagement and improve features
